After yesterday’s rumour that Yoda might be receiving his own spin-off movie, Disney has today confirmed that several
standalone projects are indeed in the works.
The new films will deal with some of the characters who won’t be receiving as much screen-time in the new trilogy, with several spin-offs to be released over the same kind of timescale as the main series.
“I can confirm to you today that in fact we are working on a few standalone films,” revealed Disney CEO, Bob Iger. “Larry Kasdan and Simon Kinberg are both working on films derived from great Star Wars characters that are not part of the overall saga.
“We still plan to make Star Wars 7 , 8 , and 9 roughly over a six-year period of time, starting in 2015. But there are going to be a few other films released in that period, too.”
Sounds like Yoda might be getting his own outing after all! In the meantime, Star Wars: Episode VII is slated to arrive in the UK in 2015.
