Directors make a deal

With Hollywood slowly grinding to a halt thanks to the WGA strike, one of the other big guilds in town has locked in a quick deal with the AMPTP.

In what seems to be a tradition for the entertainment industry, the Director’s Guild Of America has taken a very different negotiating stance from the WGA, preferring to keep its talks secret and pretty much hammer out a deal in days.

Fortunately for their fellow creative types, the DGA deal comes close to meeting many of the WGA’s demands. Whether this means the Writers’ union will now work out their own version of the agreement remains to be seen, but it’s one of the more hopeful events to happen in the town since the start of the strike.

Variety’s got the goods on the deal .
