Destiny: Xur weapons, gear, and location, May 20 - 22. Universal Remote!

Xur, Destiny's weekend trader and winner of obscure Guardian Game Show 'Encrytion or No Encrytion', is back to sell you all manner of Exotic goodies in exchance for hard-grinded Strange Coins. This week you'll find the Agent of the Nine skulking over by the Speaker in the Tower. What does he have for sale? Glad you asked, although don't get too excited...

  • Universal Remote (Exotic Primary Shotgun) - 17 Strange Coins
  • The Glasshouse (Exotic Titan Helmet) - 13 SC
  • Khepri's Sting (Exotic Hunter Gauntlets) - 13 SC
  • Sunbreakers (Exotic Warlock Gauntlets) - 13 SC
  • Legacy Exotic Engram (Armour) - 29 SC

So, is it worth buying Universal Remote? Eh, not really. While you can turn it into a pretty handy shotgun - by boosting range, and sacrificing character agility - it's a weapon that fits into your Primary slot, and there are so many better Primaries out there. Maybe it finds a niche in specific Crucible maps, especially when combined with a Sniper, but having such extremes in your load-out will leave you painfully exposed, mid-range. If you've got loads of Strange Coins, sure, buy it... but don't expect to use it a whole lot.

Elsewhere, the armour sets are pretty ordinary too. Glasshouse is far from the best Titan Exotic, given that all it really does is extend the effect of your Ward of Dawn. Khepri's Sting is the pick of the bunch, as its highlight feature grants temporary invisibility when you crouch. It's a great way to murder unwary enemies in Crucible, but not all that handy in PvE unless you're looking to revive teammates. And the Sunbreakers? Good as part of a grenade/Super reliant set-up, because it grants an extra Solar grenade, but it's certainly nothing special.

As ever, Xur is flogging Glass Needles to help you respec Exotic armour, and Three of Coins to give you a better chance of finding random Exotic Engram drops. However, the forcast this week is 'save' rather than 'spend'.

Xur will be in the Tower from now until 2am PT / 10am UK on Sunday May 22, after which time he'll disappear into the ether and won't return. Until next Friday.
