Destiny: Xur weapons, gear, and location, April 22 - 24. Monte Carlo!

Xur, Destiny’s weekend trader, amateur pigeon fancier, and vintage traction engine enthusiast, is back. He’s in Tower North this week, throwing bits of orange peel at The Speaker’s Tower and refusing to explain why. Is it worth going to see him this time? Oh good God, yes it is. The armour is okaaaay, but the gun? Yeah, get the gun.

 • Helm of Inmost Light (Exotic Titan Helmet) – 13 Strange Coins
• Lucky Raspberry (Exotic Hunter Chest Armour) – 13 Strange Coins
• Purifier Robes – (Exotic Warlock Chest Armour) – 13 Strange Coins
• Monte Carlo (Exotic Auto Rifle) – 23 Strange Coins
• Legacy Body Armour Engram – 29 Strange Coins
• Three of Coins – 7 Strange Coins
• Glass Needle – 3 Strange Coins

The Titans’ Helm of Inmost Light is basically a great big amplifier for the Fist of Havok super, increasing its leap range and making it easier to aim in mid-air. Not a bad augmentation, though its practical use is debatable outside of PvE, unless you get smart with the surprise attacks. The Warlocks’ Purifier Robes, though, are a bit naff, simply adding some enemy disorientation when you trigger Radiance. If you’re looking for an Exotic to augment Sunsinger, go for Heart of the Praxic Fire instead. And the Hunters’ Lucky Raspberry is okay, increasing the chain on your lightning grenades. Not a bad buff, but not essential either.

But you know what is essential? Monte Carlo. It might not be the most accurate Auto Rifle, but as a medium-range solution with potentially vast, branching bonuses for the right build, it’s a killer. You see, every kill with Monte Carlo will recharge your melee slightly. And there’s a (high) chance that each kill will completely refill it. Combine that with, say, a Sunsinging Warlock with Flame Shield equipped, and you have nigh-permanent overshield. If you at all build your character around melee – and/or have a build where melee kills recharge your grenade - get Monte Carlo. Get Monte Carlo immediately.

As per every bloody week, Xur will be in the Tower until 10am UK / 2am PT on Sunday, at which point he'll vanish for another week.
