R-rated animation of Batman: The Killing Joke finally gets a release date

We recently got the first trailer for Batman: The Killing Joke, the R-rated adaptation of Alan Moore's seminal graphic novel. Fans who are headed to this year's San Diego Comic-Con will get an early look at the finished product, but for everyone else DC's latest animation will be available on August 2.

The release date comes to us by way of Amazon, who are now accepting pre-orders for the film. It's one that many fans are looking forward to, and with good reason; A team-up of Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill as Batman and Joker respectively will always turn heads, and having Bruce Timm - one of the chief minds behind DC's excellent animated universe - also working on the project can only be a good thing.

In other words, I have high hopes that the animated take for The Killing Joke will do the comic book justice.

Starring Kevin Conroy, Mark Hamill, Tara Strong, and Ray Wise, Batman: The Killing Joke will be released on August 2, 2016.
