Ho, ho, ho! @GamesRadarDeals is comin' down your chimney with a sack full of the week's best video game deals so get ready to be merry!
Steam Holiday Sale
Without a doubt, the week's biggest deals news is the arrival of Steam's 2013 holiday sale, which sees PC (and sometimes Mac) downloads of games slashed to ridiculously low prices. The deals themselves are too numerous to list so head over to the Steam store and check it out for yourself ... but be warned: Steam sales are fraught with peril.
Metal Gear Rising: Revengence
Speaking of slashing, Metal Gear Rising: Revengence is coming to the PC! This week Konami announced that they're releasing the Metal Gear Solid spin-off for the keyboard and mouse set. Unfortunately for protagonist Raiden, the real star of the game is "Blade Mode", which gives you precise control over the strokes of Raiden's sword and allows you to dismember your foes exactly as you see fit. As Ryan Taljonick wrote in our four-star Metal Gear Rising: Revengence review, "Blade Mode is such a novel concept that it never becomes dull." (Get it?) Right now on Amazon you can pre-order a download of Revengence for the PC for just $19.99, $10 off the list price.
Batman: Arkham Origins
When WB Games announced that the latest game in the well-regarded Arkham series would be developed by a new studio, most of us in the gaming community assumed it was going to be a shoddy cash-grab ... but when it was finally released it turned out to actually be pretty OK, despite some bugs and recycled tropes. The upsides were enough to earn the game four stars in our Batman: Arkham Origins review where Hollander Cooper summed it up by saying Arkham Origins was "so much fun that you're going to be able to overlook most of the flaws." Well, right now you you can get in on that fun for a lot less than retail. Green Man Gaming is offering PC downloads of Arkham Origins for $20 — just be sure to use coupon code GMG20-ZB5D1-93X49 to save an extra $5 off the $25 sale price, which is already half-off the list price.
The Last of Us
We just named The Last of Us our 2013 Game of the Year — and with good reason: Naughty Dog's masterpiece stands as a testament to what games (and games alone) can accomplish. If for some reason you have a PlayStation 3 and haven't played this game, now is a great time to pick it up. That's because Amazon is offering The Last of Us for just $35. Trust us: you owe it to yourself to play this game!
Mass Effect Statue
If you're a Mass Effect fan with a wad of cash burning through the pockets of your N7 Armor, we've got just the thing for you: a detailed replica of the Normandy SR-2 ship as seen in Mass Effect 3. This 18" limited-edition statue sells for a whopping $299.99 but we think you'll agree the ability to act out your own version of ME3's ending is priceless.
