Dead Rising 2 Combo Card Weapon Guide

Flaming Gloves

Location of Card:
Gotten by leveling up somewhere between levels 10 – 20.

Location of Components:
For the Flaming Gloves you’re going to need some Boxing Gloves and Motor Oil.

Boxing Gloves are fairly easy to acquire simply by going to any Sporting good store; the one in Royal Flush Plaza has a few of them. A pair of them is sitting on some payphones near the southwestern maintenance room in the Palisades Mall as well.

Motor Oil is pretty easy to get a hold of it just requires some backwards logic. Make your way over to the BBQ House in the food court. There you can find one outside on the decking and another inside. Otherwise your best bet is to check the maintenance rooms for some.

Descriptions of Weapons:
If you’re fond of using the Knife Gloves to take down individual bosses then you’ll enjoy knowing that this is the crowd control version of that weapon. By using the four hit combo to lash out at every enemy in the area then they’ll all be lit up, dying shortly afterwards. The problem here is that fire doesn’t seem to do that much damage to larger zombies or psychopaths and if they don’t die fast enough then you’ll be the one who ends up getting hurt.

Notes: Helpful but fire is unreliable.

Rating: 3/5

Fountain Lizard

Location of Card:
Gotten by leveling up somewhere between levels 10 - 20

Location of Components:
The components for this are a Lizard Mask and Fountain Firework.

The Lizard Mask can be gotten from a select few locations around Fortune City. A few masks can be found in Moe’s Maginations after you get it reopened while others can be found in the Americana Casino. Check out Bennie Jack’s BBQ Shack for a reliable, somewhat simple, mask location until that one is opened.

Chuck can nab some Fountain Fireworks from a variety of locations around the city. Some can always be found by checking out Rockets Red Glare along the Silver Strip. More can be found in the Astonishing Illusions store in Royal Flush Plaza which is probably your best bet.

Descriptions of Weapons:
Acting as less of a weapon and more of a distraction, the Fountain Lizard makes a whole lot of noise and light that attracts zombies over to the one making the racket. If you have the combo card then they will often kill said zombie in a rage but otherwise they all simply gather together which makes for an easy kill. Pair this weapon up with something like the Blambow, Dynameat or another weapon that explodes spectacularly to wipe out a whole horde of zombies with ease.

Notes: Very useful in its own way.

Rating: 3/5

Freedom Bear

Location of Card:
In the Yucatan Casino examine the movie poster just outside of the bathroom save point.

Location of Components:
Combining the Robot Bear with a Light Machine Gun gets you this.

The Robot Bear is obtainable by heading on over to Astonishing Illusions, a shop in the Royal Flush Plaza. So far this seems to be the only place to get one although we are still looking into it.

A Light Machine Gun can be gotten by purchasing it from Just in Time Payday Loans in the Royal Flush Plaza. One can also be found on top of the center structure in the Yucatan Casino right near some Zombrex. Also it can be found on top of Cash Gordon’s, the shop in the Platinum Strip, none too far from the elephant figure. Lastly one can be found near the middle of slide of the water bar in the center of Palisades Mall.

Descriptions of Weapons:
Ever wanted to have your very own trash talking turret? Well then the Freedom Bear is definitely what you should be asking Santa for this Christmas. This bear is basically just a zany little turret for Chuck to murder zombies with. While it is very useful since it kills zombies in just a shot or two and has about four hundred rounds with which to make swiss cheese out of zombies it’s of limited use due to it not being able to be stored. While this makes sense considering its size the impact this has on its effectiveness is huge. Carrying it around with you is improbable in most situations but if you have a co-op buddy then this can be very helpful when dealing with psychopaths. Otherwise it’s just a good way to rake up a bunch of PP.

Notes: Useful but limited in function.

Rating: 3/5

Freezer Bomb

Location of Card:
Gotten by leveling up somewhere between levels 15 - 30

Location of Components:
For this you’re going to have to put together a Fire Extinguisher with some Dynamite.

Fire Extinguishers can be gotten from just about any interior area, sitting inside of one of the fire extinguisher boxes. There is easy access to one within the safe room and a few others within Royal Flush Plaza if you just search around for them.

Dynamite is gotten by going to Royal Flush Plaza and make your way to the Fortune Plaza exit. Just before the exit doors are some trees near the stairs that go up to the second level. Go up, jump onto the palm tree and pick up the two pieces. They can also be found inside some of the maintenance rooms although this is uncommon, notably being present in the maintenance room on the second floor of Palisades Mall.

Descriptions of Weapons:
Frankly this weapon is far more useful than it has any real right to be. When you throw this into a group of zombies the explosion will flash freeze all of those in its radius for several long moments. While they’re frozen you can then hit them once with just about anything to shatter them to lots of little pieces. Using a combo weapon to do this will allow you to rake in some pretty good PP as well as clear out a crowd.

Notes: Surprisingly useful for crowds.

Rating: 3/5

Gem Blower

Location of Card:
Gotten by leveling up somewhere between levels 10 – 20.

Location of Components:
For this fun little toy you’re going to need a leaf blower and some gems.

Gems can be gotten from just about any jewelry store in any of the various mall areas. They are often inside of the glass display cases so just shatter them and then pull out some gems. Occasionally they can be found on the floor elsewhere but this is rare.

Leaf blowers on the other hand are a bit harder to get your hands on. They are found in a very few maintenance rooms that are fairly out of the way but there is one that is close at hand. In Fortune Park check in the grassy patches south of the maintenance room in the middle to find it lying on the grass.

Descriptions of Weapons:
Know how those two handed weapons you drop whenever you get hit generally suck? Know how the ones you have to rev up are usually even crappier? Well prepare for the grand daddy of suck – A two handed weapon you have to rev up to attack enemies that doesn’t even have the decency to actually kill the damnable zombies you shot with it. That’s the Gem Blower in a nutshell. Never bother with this piece of junk.

Notes: Completely and utterly useless.

*places his bronzed Knife Gloves up on his mantle* Thank you my friends, you have treated me well through my zombie killing career. Yes, the Tesla Ball is a rip snorting load of fun to use, even if it's not the easiest to create.

Many of the safe rooms in Dead Rising 2 contain the tools required to make combo weapons. It felt kind of redundant to point most of these out as the combo weapons really aren't all that effective. They're fun but you're often better with a shotgun, LMG and a few Spiked Bats. @kyle94: Without the combo card the weapon takes roughly two to three shots to kill an individual zombie. With the combo card it's basically just a glorified shotgun. So overall it seemed kind of like a worthless weapon to me. @Michael: I'd have loved to have been part of the conversation that brought on that whoopsie, heh! I was wondering what the heck that was or if it was a prank from a colleague (a friend made it so that Word replaced every instance of the word "this" with "that". Made for some uh... interesting re-edits.

For the electric chair. Both items can be found in the BBQ shack next to the Americana casino. There are always two or three wheelchairs outside the maintenance room and the room itself has a battery.

Nice guide. An easy way to get wingmen and queens is to go to pot of gold in silver strip and combine the 3 orange juices with beer. Grab the chaisaw from the top of the stage and combine it with the motorcyle. Drink one of the nectars then get on the bike and run over zombies. When you get off there should be around 6 queens. Then just fuse some with the nectar.

I didn't think the gem blower was useless. I don't know what you were doing with it, but when I used it after I got the combo card, it worked rather well. Wasn't practical, but did kill zombies. Hell, it was basically a giant shotgun for me. I remember shooting one zombie next to me and his body went flying while his head floated in mid-air for a second and then fell down.

I actually thought up combining a blast frequency gun with an amp shortly after finding it. Yay for me!!! :)

Sometimes I'm typing in AIM and it's not the active window, and sometimes PickeHitlered happens. @_@ Fixed, and the Guide is complete!

Yeah, wow. No idea what the hell happened there. I know my computer was having a seizure thanks to all the video capture while I was typing. What's even more interesting is that typo isn't in my original file. Weird. @leyviur - I found it much easier to grab two bow and arrows from the Chieftains Hut, the two dynamite sticks in RFP and use the two Blambows to slaughter zombies left and right. I see your point though but it's still fairly limited in use.

I can't believe that the GR guys haven't noticed that the paragraph on where tennis raquets are was taken over by Hitler. Is this like some kind of new reverse Grammar Nazi that purposely misspells words?

PickeHitlerd? People, I think we just got Hitler Roll'd...

You don't get a combo card for it from Case Zero, but the Beer Hat is a carryover from Case Zero as well. In Still Creek, when making the jump across the alleyway to get to the hunting store, turn right instead of left and follow the planks on top of those buildings to find a lone construction hat. The bowling alley or bar has plenty of beer.

An incredible use for the Dynameat is for early leveling. Near the Atlantica casino is a maintenence room where you can make the knife gloves. Right outside this room is a stick of dynamite and hunk of meat. Using this you can throw it at a nearby enemy horde for a giant PP spike that remains significant until level 30, or so. Respawning these items is merely a matter of going into the casino and back out again. I got to around level 35 using this method, and had no trouble running through the story afterwards.

Sorry for the double post but there is a much more convenient location for dynamite in the Royal Flush Plaza. Three sticks to be exact. Go toward the exit that leads to Fortune Park but stay in the plaza. Upstairs you will see a red phone booth that you can climb. Climb up onto the overhang for the store underneath and walk over to the broken railing and jump up again. Turn around and jump to the flower box and climb up one last time. There will be a large hot air balloon with a blue stuffed bunny and three glorious sticks of TNT. Its a long jump but easily makeable. Alternatively, instead of jumping to the balloon you can climb into the windows and snag a sniper rifle, steak and a spear. Makes the Blambow more enticing with less travel!

A note on the Beer Hat: its usefulness increases signifigantly if you pick up the Drinks magazine and either Health magazine. Drinks - Drinking alcohol no longer makes chuck puke. Found in Atlantica Casino on top of the ceiling fixture near the clam shell.
  • philipshaw - October 5, 2010 10:30 a.m.

Great guide and you are right in the baseball bat with nails is the best weapon in the game. I used that for most of the game
  • NathanXplosion - October 5, 2010 5:29 a.m.

My favorite combo weapon has to be the Blitzkrieg, which is a wheelchair, a car battery, and a merc assault rifle. Its not the one I used the most, just the one I had the most fun while using when I did.
