Dead Island's 'Ryder White' DLC spawning February 1

Techland to feature Dead Island antagonist in single player expansion

Dead Island's Ryder White (aka "The Voice") is set to star in his very own chunk of story-based DLC, which will make the plotting-douchebag-turned-monster playable for the first time in Techland's zombie sandbox actioneer.

As Dead Island players will recall, Ryder was the main antagonist in the original game. He was first introduced as a lone survivor and later revealed to be a Colonel in the Banoi Island Defense Force, who's solution to Banoi's undead crisis involved blowing the island and all of its residents into the next century. Thankfully, he simply wound up becoming a monstrous, hulking zombie instead.

In the DLC, players will have the opportunity to find out what makes Ryder tick, as well as the motivations behind his desperate plan. Two new blueprints and weapons will also be included in the download, which publisher Deep Silver claimed will add several hours to the single player campaign.

Ryder White will be ready for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC on February 1 for $10 (800 Microsoft Points). Check it out in glorious screenshot-O-vision below:

    Dead Island: The game no one enjoyed. SO glad I didnt waste my money on this. Judging from the other comments, this piece of shit game isnt even worth the rent I was thinking of giving it.

    Well I enjoyed the game, it was good to play with some good buddies. I'm looking forward to the DLC but I'm confused on how it will work. Can you still be the original characters or can you only be Ryder White because playing with 2 other people all the same character would look pretty stupid.

    I have to agree with talleyXIV I have no fucking clue who this guy is...and I just finished this game a couple weeks back. I'm sorry but this buggy bucket of shit game had a ham fisted story that would make most porn stars blush! If you were to put a gun to my head I couldn't even come up with the any of the names of the main characters! You know who I remember? Zoe, Bill, Francis and Louis!

Thankfully, he simply wound up becoming a monstrous, hulking zombie instead." Actually I don't recall nearly anything from the game. I beat it, laughed my ass off, and then never put it in again. The game was a comedy.

    wait so if you play as him and get scratched, wouldn't that make you infected? If not and he's immune...wouldn't that defeat the purpose of getting the other 4 survivors to the island?

    Ah, how this reminds me of what is possibly the worst final boss battle ever conceived. What fond memories I have of taking down a tiny amount of his health, dying, respawning and repeating, for about ten minutes, before being subjected to an incredibly anticlimactic and unimaginative final cutscene.

    I know right? And they kill the character that has been raped like three times and whose dad dies right in front of her. She dies a heroic death for no reason, I laughed forever at that.

    Yeah... that was a laughably bad ending to a game I hope to never revisit.

    Your lucky. During the last level I got thrown into a group of 2 or 3 people that had some magical guns that never ran out of bullets and killed anything in one shot. (Seriously) So because their game loaded a bit faster the end boss was dead before I even saw him!!
