DC Entertainment executive talks plans for Aquaman

Aquaman has long been the punchline to a series of jokes about potential DC properties to be adapted for the big screen, but it sounds as though plans are still afoot to liberate the Atlantean from the page…

DC Entertainment’s Chief Creative Officer, Geoff Johns, has been discussing Aquaman’s future, and reveals that the character remains a priority in terms of finding a way to adapt him for a new audience…

“There is no doubt in my mind that this is one of the most well-known characters among superheroes, and in popular culture,” says Johns, before going on to stress the advantages of the ocean setting.

“We are finding new areas in the ocean every day,” he continues. “It’s as alien as going to outer space.”

Not sure if we’re entirely sold on that logic, but still. Whether on the small screen (Warner had previously attempted push the property as a TV show, only for the pilot to be passed around studios with little interest) or large, it sounds as though we may see a new version of Aquaman yet…
