Dark Knight Rises begins auditions for lead actresses

Anne Hathaway

Chris Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises was always going to be the subject of intense scrutiny from the off, considering the massive level of interest in the third Batman film.

Which means that the secretive director is finding it more difficult than ever to keep a handle on reporting of his day-to-day business, with both Collider and Heat Vision today reporting on a flurry of rumours surrounding the production.

The former report that Talia al Ghul will definitely be the female villain in Dark Knight Rises , while a new Batmobile aka ‘The Tumbler’ will be involved.

Most tantalisingly, Heat Vision report that a number of young actresses are heading to Warner Bros to audition for the film.

Keira Knightley, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Biel, Gemma Arterton, Kate Mara and Charlotte Riley are all testing for a role, with a villain and a love interest looking to be cast.

Knowing Nolan, we're sure he's leaning more toward the unknowns - though we bet the WB are keen for a well-known actress to bag at least one of the roles.
