Cruising for Worst Actor

‘Tis the time that Hollywood quakes in its glitzy shoes. When actors wish the ground would swallow them up and people like Uwe Boll realise this is the only awards show they’re likely to ever attend. Yes, the 26th Annual Golden Raspberry nominations have been announced.

Talking of people who will only be getting “kudos” from the Razzies this year, the team behind much-derided sequel Son Of The Mask can sit back and, er, bask in the glory that is their eight nominations. The film is nominated in all the major categories, including Worst Picture and Worst Actor for Jamie Kennedy. And it pulls off a double shot in the Worst Supporting Actor, with Alan Cumming and Bob Hoskins both nominated.

Coming in a strong second is the distinctly dodgy The Dukes Of Hazzard, which grabbed seven noms. In the Worst Picture category, Mask and Dukes will face off against the likes of Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo, House Of Wax and Jenny McCarthy’s little-seen comedy Dirty Love.

Mask star Kennedy will face strong competition in Worst Actor – Tom Cruise is on the list for War Of The Worlds, Will Ferrell gets a nod for Bewitched, Rob Schneider appears for Gigolo and The Rock’s performance in Doom got him on the list.

If the Cruiser decides he’ll attend (yeah, right) he could always bring fiancée Katie Holmes, who represents one of the few decent films to get a nod – she’s up for Worst Supporting Actress in Batman Begins.
