I think I remember Shuppet being pretty creepy. Not to mention, it gets more points than Yamask for the sole reason that it isn't a 5th gen pokemon.

Kirby's final bosses in general are all creepy and they didn't get nicer in return to dreamland but scarfy was the original "What the fuck!?" XD You put Mad Jack, my childhood dammit, I skipped beating him till the game forced me because of how creepy he was and how dark my damn TV was at the time.

ReDead used to scare the crap out of me.
  • ObliqueZombie - October 30, 2012 5:12 p.m.

Pokemon always were pretty dark when you read about certain ones. And their urban legends always gave me a good creeping out. Yeah, Mad Jack? Scared the crap out of me when I was a kid!

You forgot the most obvious one from a Zelda game, the hands that drop down and take you back to the beginning of the dungeon

That depends. OoT isn't otherwise a "cute game." Link's Awakening and the Capcom ones could be.

So if OoT is going to be on the list (which it is), I think emaciated zombies beat giant disembodied hands.

I cant remember if they were called Floormasters or Dungeonmasters but theres a variant of the Hand enemy that breaks into smaller hands when its killed- and if you took too long to kill them they grew into the big Hands again. That scared the piss out of me when I was a kid, and it still did when I got OoT3D.

Man, when you think about it, pretty much every ghost pokemon have some creepy, used-to-be-alive backstory. Friggin Lavender town is creepy as hell, even today.

I can't say I've played many Kirby games, but I did think the final boss in Kirby's Adventure was...well, not exactly what I was expecting. I don't think it was 'creepy' per se, but was otherwise nerve-wracking. I have never encountered the Smoky Progg either. I don't think many people would have done considering how rare it is, so I guess that makes it all the more frightening. However I think the Water Wraiths in Pikmin 2 were just as scary. Also I like that in Pokédex 3D, Yamask's animation is actually it looking at its mask and crying, as if just reading about it wasn't harrowing enough.

Smoky Progg is evil. I woke it up once for fun. After it hatched, it headed right for my base and started killing. It has like a poison gas around it on top of being hard to kill and I believe that you have to throw pikman on a certain part of him to hurt him because the gas kills pikman so fast. I started the fight with 400 and left with 50.

The ReDead scared the bejesus out of me when I was younger.

You could have easily filled this up with Pokemon exclusively lol There are some creepy sounding ones out there for sure.
  • FOZ - October 31, 2012 6:29 p.m.

    They already made that article.

Deadhand. Not redead. Deadhand. That thing was made of nightmares.

Mad Piano from Super Mario 64. All I wanted to do was collect a Red Coin :, (

In SMB2 I felt Phanto was more out of place than creepy. Made no sense having that enemy in a Mario game. I think a cooler list would be cute characters in otherwise non-cute games.

I'm not sure if it counts, but the Grandmatriarch in Cookie Clicker is definitely pretty creepy.
