Christopher Nolan reveals plans for an Inception videogame

Director Christopher Nolan has just confirmed that he’s exploring the possibility of developing a video game based on his latest heist thriller, Inception. Speaking in an interview with Variety about Inception spinoffs, Nolan said “one thing we are looking at doing is developing a video game based on the world of the film, which has all kinds of ideas that you can’t fit into a feature film.”

Above: On a somewhat related note, we believe that Inception’s theme goes with everything. That's how awesome it is. As evidence, we present Inceptionauts. You can see more here

Fans of The Dark Knight will also be pleased to hear that Nolan is working on the script for his third Batman film, which is expected to release in July, 2012. “They haven’t told me they don’t want to do it, so I’m hopeful,” jokes Nolan.

Well that's it. We have officaly ran out of video game ideas. Time to take you Xbox, and your PS3(you have already done this with your Wii) and take them out back with the shotgun, and have them go the same way as Old Yeller. After Fallout New Vegas and Bioshock Infinate of course.

Oh man, this is a really bad idea.
  • thatblindgamer - September 22, 2010 2:37 p.m.

Hmm, sounds interesting. I'm not sold until they can prove to me that they ill spend a ton of time to make a good game, if not then I'm not interested.

You sir are late to the party. Well that's prob a good thing since we don't want to rush the dev who gets this game. I was thinking this the whole time I was watching the movie by the way.

@RadimirWackytov: Excellent point, i'll second that and keep my optimism high for this one.

Nolan is quickly becoming my favorite director. Although he's got to fight for it with Darren Aronofsky. A game from him (Nolan) would be very interesting especially if it's about/related to Inception. Inception was perfect in my eyes and one of the best films I've ever seen.
  • RadimirWackytov - September 22, 2010 12:05 a.m.

Except they're not trying to release it along with the movie, that means that they won't necessarily rush the game to make a quick buck. Same thing happened with Goldeneye, and that was a great game.
  • ThatGuyFromTV - September 21, 2010 10:11 p.m.

The potential is ridiculous, but let's face it, it's a movie tie-in. It isn't going to do well.
  • nadrewod999 - September 21, 2010 10:05 p.m.

If you want to make a fine Inception game, might as well make it Double Fine. . . . . . . INCEPTIONAUTS FTW!
  • OneToBoner - September 21, 2010 9:47 p.m.

I hope it's just a 3D version of Yume Nikki.
  • JPorFavor - September 21, 2010 9:46 p.m.

Someone must have incepted his mind to give him this idea!
  • RebornKusabi - September 21, 2010 8:49 p.m.

I know it's an ironic road to take but seriously, all they have to do is get the Psychonauts guys to make this game and it'll be gold! reCAPTCHA: novus, saproted (I actually had to Google those words just to understand what they ****ing mean >_>
  • JohnnyMaverik - September 21, 2010 8:37 p.m.

It sounds like they're taking it seriously enough that it might actually be worth a damn...
  • batmanboy11 - September 21, 2010 8:36 p.m.

I still haven't seen the movie, so at this point I couldn't care less. It is good news that he's getting the ball rolling on Batman 3 anyway.
  • Radagast107 - September 21, 2010 8:31 p.m.

this better not end up like every other game movie, a disaster, unless they are very serious on spending a decent chunk of time on this game, then it will just be lost in LIMBO! great movie though, on of my top five favorites
  • Tobio - September 21, 2010 8:09 p.m.

I think they have to go deeper... Bad jokes aside, Inception is pretty overrated and after the experience we've had with games based off movies, I won't be surprised if this turns out to be a piece of crap. And FU TomMishkin!

    Psychonauts already came out
  • GaryTheGuidoHunter - September 21, 2010 7:35 p.m.

Gonna expect a total awesome and creative mindfuck of a game. It will be just as epic as the movie, methinks!
