To do this all you have to do is go into a ranked match (any mode) and play a full match. Then once you are done back out and go to single player and play any campaign you want. Doing this will let you get exp while you play campaign. So now you can skip over the long time to find a match.

Easy way to kill the Abomination

Last act as the predator
Stand with your back to the door that is somewhere around the edge of the arena and lay a lot of mines in front of you. Your power will keep refilling automatically for this part of the game and this area does not fall into the lava so keep laying mines. This takes quite a lot of the abominations health so 3 or 4 times should do it.
