A girl catches her breath and stares down at the gathering of warrior 
gods below. What she feels is not light, but darkness. Her mind wanders 
with thought.
She's made it this far...
she's traveled this far...
on just a few clues...
to avenge her brother.
The chance for revenge is near.

The insatiable ambition of the human race has lead to the abuse of 
scientific knowledge. Foolishly setting up the stage for the extreme 
battle on that land. Now, a new Dead Or Alive battle is about to begin.

A girl calmly closes her eyes.
She hears the vibration of the colliding power and the uncontrollable, 
violent melody.

CONTROLS

The control scheme I mention here is the default scheme. Dead Or Alive 
uses an 8-Way fighting system. The 8 directions include: 
UP, DOWN, BACK, FORWARD, DOWN-BACK (D-B), DOWN-FORWARD (D-F), UP-BACK 
(U-B), and UP-FORWARD (U-F). I will use arrows (< >) for BACK and 
FORWARD commands.

Some characters also implement use of the "Street Fighter" control 
commands. These are the commands used:

QUARTER CIRCLE FORWARD (QCF): DOWN, DOWN-FORWARD, FORWARD
QUARTER CIRCLE BACK    (QCB): DOWN, DOWN-BACK, BACK
BACK CIRCLE DOWN       (BCD): BACK, BACK-DOWN, DOWN
FORWARD CIRCLE DOWN    (FCD): FORWARD, FORWARD-DOWN, DOWN

Kasumi is torn between her responsibilities and the urge to know the 
truth. Kasumi's brother Hayate was rightful heir to the Mugin Tenshin 
style and ready to succeed as the 18TH leader of the clan...until one 
fateful day when an assassin attacked and crippled him.
Kasumi's father, Shiden was left bitter and refuses to discuss the 
details surrounding the attack on Hayate. He ordered Kasumi to succeed 
her brother's position as the leader of the Mugin Tenshin style.

However, Kasumi secretly left her village, without a trace, in order to 
avenge her brother and seek out the truth.

Ryu bears the name "Hayabusa" an honor bestowed upon only the most 
distinguished of Ninja from the Hayabusa School. His life was a 
continuous fight until he met his love, Aileen, and found satisfaction 
and peace. But his thirst for challenge returned when he learned that 
his best friend's sister, Kasumi, had disappeared.

Shortly thereafter, a dark figure approached and handed Ryu a piece of 
paper stained red. Then, without a word, the figure slipped away. 
"Welcome to Dead Or Alive - from Fame Douglas" the letter read. Another 
seduction from the dark, the invitation is his hand beckoned like an 
old lover. Once again, Ryu slipped into the shadow of darkness.

Working as a professional assassin, the mercenary Bayman uses his code 
name, well known in the darker side of the world. As a child, Bayman 
witnessed the assassination of his parents, carried out under martial 
order. He was later trained by the Russian Military in commando-style 
fighting and served as a special agent for many years.

He is posing as a participant of the Dead Or Alive World Combat 
Tournament and his true assignment is to find and exterminate Fame 
Douglas, the notorious leader of DOATEC (Dead Or Alive Tournament

dream that haunts Gen Fu nightly...his granddaughter Mei Linn, lying in

Jann Lee has never seen the faces of his parents; they died when he was 
very young and left him an orphan, alone to fend for himself. Soon 
after, he absorbed himself in the study of Jeet Kune Do. At first he 
fought to replace the feelings of loss from when his parents died, but 
eventually Jann fought purely for the sake of fighting.

One day, he heard the rumor of a tournament to honor the strongest 
fighter in the world. He wondered if he could find what he had been 
searching for in the tournament. He smiled just for a moment and 
clenched his fist tightly.

This section will cover the other various modes and secrets available 
for DOA1.


                            ==KUMITE==

This mode is similar to SURVIVAL Mode only there is a chosen set of 
enemy numbers to defeat. When starting the mode, players are given a 
choice of 30, 60, or 100 opponents.

The player has one health bar and has to try and keep it full for the 
duration of the mode. The health bar will be refilled significantly 
during consequent matches.

So what is the prize for winning Kumite Mode? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! 


                           ==TRAINING==

For this Mode, you can simply practice the move of the characters. 

The only problem with this Mode is that you have to PAUSE every time 
you want to see the COMMAND LIST. The SPARRING system from DOA2 
should've been implemented here.



                           ==SURVIVAL==

The point of SURVIVAL MODE is to defeat an endless string of opponents 
until the player's health reaches zero. As you defeat more opponents, 
your health will refill each time by a little or full margin.

And what is the prize for lasting in SURVIVAL MODE? You unlock the 
DANGER DAMAGE option in the EXTRA CONFIG screen. Other than that you 
get ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!



                            ==DOA ONLINE==


This section will explain the online aspect of DOA1. To sign on to DOA 
Online, the players must have an XBOX Live account and a GamerTag. 
Once signed in, you will be transported to the VIRTUAL LOBBY where you 
will have numerous options to choose while online:


--QUICK MATCH

Pretty much self-explanatory. The player can enter a quick battle based 
on the settings they have and the type of connection being used.


--OPTIMATCH

For this mode, a player can choose the types of matches and rankings 
they want to challenge to increase their rankings in the DOA board (or 
at least try to).


--CREATE A MATCH

For this mode, a player can create their own virtual tournament. The 
creator of a Hosted "Tournament" can set parameters for the tournament 
and invite online gamers for a challenge. 

As the Host, the player has the options to name their Lobby, choose a 
game mode, battle type, life bar length, max number of rounds, timer, 
and the types of player rankings accepted. Also as Host, only the Host 
can alter settings if any other players want to leave the session.


--FRIENDS

As you fight other top-ranking fighters, you can communicate with them 
and add them to your Friends list. Each time you sign on to DOA Online, 
these names will appear as "ONLINE" in the Friends list.


--SETTINGS

This option lets you choose what type of voice a player wants to use in 
the XBOX Communicator and if they want their GamerTag to appear as 
ONLINE or OFFLINE.


--WORLD RANKINGS

As your rank rises, your GamerTag is posted on the Lobby. Based on the 
amounts of wins and losses, the grades per player are as follows:

--From highest to lowest: SS, S, A, B, C, D, E, F


--GAME MODES

The types of matches that can be chosen during any mode:

WINNER-STAYS, TOURNAMENT, TEAM BATTLE, SURVIVAL, LOSER-STAYS, KUMITE



This is all the basic info needed when signing and playing online. Now, 
in terms of not getting your ass served on a beginner's platter, you're 
on your own friend. GOOD LUCK!

When selecting a character, press UP or DOWN on the D-Pad to select a 
different costume. Each character has three costumes available from the 
start.


                  --  EXTRA CONFIGURATION  --

To unlock the ?????? in the OPTIONS menu, simply beat Arcade Mode with 
any character once. Once EXTRA CONFIG is unlocked, do the following to 
unlock more options in EXTRA CONFIG:

--FIGHTING ORDER - Defeat Time Attack under 5 minutes 
--RING SIZE      - Default - already unlocked 
--DANGER ZONE    - Play the game for 10 hours 
--DANGER DAMAGE  - Defeat 10 or more opponents in Survival Mode 
--DANGER BOUNCE  - Enter the letters "D O A" for your high score name
--SYSTEM VOICE   - Use Kasumi 100 times

PROLOGUE

DISASTER OF TENGU AT THE END OF THE CENTURY

A great leader was killed at the end of the 20TH century. His name was 
Fame Douglas, and he was renowned as the sponsor of the legendary Dead 
Or Alive World Combat Championship. Since his death - and in the 
absence of his charisma and leadership, the world has become chaotic. 
Yet something appears to be happening. Amid this chaos, it is announced 
that "Dead Or Alive Championship 2" will be held.

However, Douglas' passing has taken it with the purpose and 
significance of the tournament. Even worse, the promoter of "Dead Or 
Alive Championship 2," who is fond of conflicts and jealous of the 
strong, is responsible for Douglas' death. The new promoter is more 
than just a corrupt mastermind, but a man of pure evil.

His involvement in the tournament has brought a sense of terror to the 
world, resulting in the infamous Tengu Disaster that occurred at the 
end of the 20TH century. The climax of the disaster is about to begin 
with a roaring battle.

CONTROLS

The control scheme I mention here is the default scheme. Dead Or Alive 
uses an 8-Way fighting system with analog control. 

The 8 directions include: 
UP, DOWN, BACK, FORWARD, DOWN-BACK (D-B), DOWN-FORWARD (D-F), UP-BACK 
(U-B), and UP-FORWARD (U-F). I will use arrows (< >) for BACK and 
FORWARD commands.

Some characters also implement use of the "Street Fighter" control 
commands. These are the commands used:

QUARTER CIRCLE FORWARD (QCF): DOWN, DOWN-FORWARD, FORWARD
QUARTER CIRCLE BACK    (QCB): DOWN, DOWN-BACK, BACK
BACK CIRCLE DOWN       (BCD): BACK, BACK-DOWN, DOWN
FORWARD CIRCLE DOWN    (FCD): FORWARD, FORWARD-DOWN, DOWN
HALF CIRCLE FORWARD (HCF): BACK, BACK-DOWN, DOWN, DOWN-FORWARD, FORWARD
HALF CIRCLE BACK    (HCB): FORWARD, DOWN-FORWARD, DOWN, DOWN-BACK, BACK

BIG NOTE: In the SETTINGS menu, I suggest that you DO NOT use analog 
control! Analog control implements the use pressure sensitive button 
presses. Unless you happen to be an expert on soft and hard button 
pressing, keep the analog control OFF.

All characters are in order from left to right on the Character Select 
screen (including two of the three unlocked characters).


This is the ONLY FAQ with the full move set for every character (except 
Tengu).


**I've shortened and abbreviated most of the move names for all 
characters. Some of the names are WAY too long (like Helena's) and some 
have the same name repeated for another combo (like Hayabusa's). 
I hope you don't mind.

KUNOICHI WITH MURDEROUS INTENT

Ayane is Kasumi's half-sister, Ninja destined to live in the shadow of 
her older sister. A great hatred burns for Kasumi within Ayane. An 
expert in Ninjutsu, her deadly fighting style has given her the 
nickname "Female Tengu". 

She joins in the Dead Or Alive World Combat Championship as an assassin 
in pursuit of her traitor sister, Kasumi, who left the Mugen Tenshin 
clan behind. Although she would never admit it, Ayane admires Hayate, 
Kasumi's brother.
