Opening note: At virtually all points at which you fight a boss enemy who can
be defeated simply by critically wounding (but not killing) him/her you
should do everything in your power to bring this enemy down to 0 HP rather
than taking this route. Doing so will allow you to recruit a special
character at the end of the game. Along these same lines whenever you fight
a battle with an ally or other character whom you are assigned to protect,
even if you don't get game over when they die, you should do everything you
can to keep them alive. Often in such cases, they will join you afterward.

In this battle you start out with the two default characters. You should keep
in mind that Viser is of a much higher level and therefore he is the one who
should be placed in danger before the main character. He can not only take
more punishment but can easily dish out more damage. If you can get both the
main character and Viser beside an enemy you can hover your cursor over the
attack button and press right to execute a double attack between them, the
damage from this attack will surely be enough to take down any enemy you are
facing here. Also keep in mind that your actions are determined by AP. If
you move too far you cannot attack, however if you don't move at all you can
attack more than once each turn. Once the three enemies have been defeated
and you have not, then the battle is over and the mission is complete.

On the world map press triangle to bring up the menu and select the town
option. Head to the Guild and ask about quests once, then again. On the
second time you'll talk to a person, invite him to come and Mercator joins
your party. Next you ask and accept the traveling merchant quest. Other than
that everything else is basically a tutorial of the game you pay for. At
level one you aren't likely going to get a reward out of arm wrestling or
helping with the landslide since you aren't strong enough.

There are six spirit enemies to battle here, all six of them are pretty much
the same. Fortunately you won't have to take them all on by yourself. Soon
after the battle starts two more party members join the fray, Grey and Adara.
Grey is a spear user which means you can position him two panels away from the
enemy and still attack, this is good to keep in mind. Rather than having
Adara attack normally, have her use the Shock Blast skill as it is much more
powerful than her physical attack. Spero should be strong enough normally to
take out almost any enemy on his own, especially if you upgraded to the Mumei
blades at the shop. With all your party members you shouldn't have trouble.
o---------------------------- MISSION COMPLETE ------------------------------o
Once you're back on the world map there is a new location you can visit. Note
that if you are approximately level three, you should now be able to
successfully do the Landslide quest without failing miserably. Also be sure
to do the arm wrestling competition as well. When you do you'll make some
money and Cody will join your party. Just for the sake of completion you
might want to just listen to all the other quest lectures as well, they're not
very expensive at all. When you're ready to go then head to Saxum.

If you've done everything right up to this point you should have a full party
including five characters. Mercator the Cleric will act as your healer while
Cody is a decent physical attacker. Like in the previous battle Adara is
great when using her Shock Blast, Grey the Spearman can effectively attack
from two panels away and Spero is just a really really good physical attacker.
At the beginning of the battle the three nearest enemies should come running
at you while the other three at the top will remain stationary. Let them come
at you without moving or anything so they're the ones with no AP left when the
fighting starts. The best thing to do like in most tactical RPGs is not to
spread your party about but move virtually all five members as one focusing on
killing the enemies one person at a time, you'll be able to really thin out
their numbers quickly. One thing to watch out for is that you don't use Grey
to attack when you have a party member between him and the enemy, you party
member will not move out of the way! Finish this battle and another starts.

Just a single enemy here, but it's a boss enemy! And your very first one.
After the first turn a girl will join the battle up near the boss, she is
equipped with a bow. Her normal attack only does a pathetic amount of damage
but using her Quick Snap skill you can actually hurt the boss for a decent
amount. It's still not enough for her to finish him off herself of course so
get your party up the hill and move them toward the boss. Viper is a
difficult enemy. First of all you aren't going to want to position anyone
around the diagonal panels that surround him, he has the Fear zone skill in
effect where anyone standing in those panels will have the Fear status
inflicted upon them. His attack is also quite brutal but costs a lot of HP so
what you're going to want to avoid is having anyone standing directly beside
him as well, this way it will force him to move before attacking and he'll
only be able to get off one hit. Make sure you have your Cleric ready to heal
at all times and also feel free to use items when you need them. You don't
actually have to kill Viper, just get him down to about 200 hit points.
o---------------------------- MISSION COMPLETE ------------------------------o
Be sure to check out all the new quests available at Saxum. There are two
quests that actually involve battles, the punks one and the thieves one.
After choosing both of them leave the town and head back to Eumaneia.

party and also nets you a cool 500 bucks for finishing the quest.

Once again you're only given three party members to use for this battle but
that's okay, just take Spero, Grey and Adara. The most dangerous enemy in
this battle is the Fighter as it is at level three. I would say to just
ignore the Fighter at the start, don't send anyone after him but instead send
all three of your party members down the path, you don't want to split them
up. When Orius gets a turn attack once and then have him run from the enemies
toward your party. The three thieves should chase after him which is good as
it gets them closer to your party. The Fighter will jump down, have Spero
take care of the Fighter by himself at this point, he should be able to do it
assuming he too is at level three. Actually if you're feeling confident maybe
you'll want one of your lesser leveled party members to finish him off since
killing an enemy at a higher level than you nets quite a bit of experience.
Adara's Shock Blast as always will play an important part in the battle, it's
an extremely powerful attack that can be used from a distance, take advantage
of this fact. Spero also makes great choice for taking out the thieves.
Since I won a Leather Mail from that lottery quest, all the thieves couldn't
deal more than one damage to him even with criticals, so it made finishing off
the battle quite easy. However you do it, just pick off those thieves. Win
the battle and that archer named Orius will join your party.

This is going to be your first real difficult battle, so if you haven't
leveled up at all using the catacombs then I think now would be a good time to
start before going into this battle. You're allowed to use six characters
which is nice and since you should have recruited at least seven by now then
you'll be set. I used everyone except Cody for this battle and it went over
pretty well with most of my party around level two or three, though by the end
pretty much all of them were dead. Remember the golden rule of focusing on
one enemy at a time. Keep your ranged attackers at a distance and have your
close-up fighters like swordsmen head in and start slashing at all the
enemies. Adara's Shock Blast is effective of enemies like Spearmen but not so
effective and magic enemies like the Elementors. Watch out for enemies who
use team attacks that's where you'll really get hurt. Never all yourself to
have any characters surrounded by two enemies. On the same subject using team
attacks of your own, especially against the boss can really come in handy and
should help to speed up the battle and give yourself the advantage you need.

Basically this fight consists of you taking out the four soldiers, note there
are less enemies and they are at lower levels than the battle you fought at
Montano so how you could possibly manage to lose this battle I don't have any
idea. The main idea is that you do not attack the Axeman, if you notice he
won't chase you at all during the battle, so offer him the same courtesy.
Once the four soldiers have been defeated, the Axeman Borque, will join you.

Another battle with Viper here, although this one is going to be much much
harder since he's brought his army with him. You're going to want an average
level of five minimum for everyone in your party before starting this battle.
Begin by focusing on those Soldiers at the front and then once they've been
taken care of go after the Cleric. With the first three enemies out of the
way you can see another wave of three ahead of you. Of those enemies the one
you want to focus on is the Alchemist as he can inflict negative status
ailments on your party like Dark to everyone. Also the Archer can inflict
Dark with each of his hits so those two are going t be primary targets. After
them you have the boss and two Fighters alongside him which are at a higher
level than the rest of the enemies. Try to stand far enough back so you lure
the Fighters toward you but not Viper, it is indeed possible to do this. Try
to eliminate them so that you can take your entire party and send them after
Viper. There are a couple of things to keep in mind when fighting this boss.
First of all he can kill just about any party member in a single turn if they
are standing beside him. What I mean is that when he uses his special attack
he will have exactly enough AP to follow it with a normal attack as long as he
hasn't moved, if he has to move even one panel he won't have enough AP to
attack twice. For this reason it's always a good idea to attack but then
leave yourself with enough AP to retreat one panel away just to be safe. Also
note that he still has the Fear Zone Effect in play so never place anyone on a
diagonal to him unless you're ready with the Badge of Courage item or Adara's
Recovery ability. Adara's Shock Blast does great damage to the boss as does
Spero's Wolf Fang skill. The best damage you can get of course is from
combination attacks, the combo attack between Grey and Adara is brutally
powerful. Even better though is if you can get your whole party in on the
attacks. Finally you should know that when the boss' HP gets below 400 the
battle will end automatically similar to how it did for the first one. If you
can actually KILL him rather than having the battle end while he's still alive
(note this means dealing more than 400 damage in a single turn, Team Attacks
are needed) then it will contribute to a special bonus later in the game. It
has to do with recruiting a new party member, there are other ways to get him
that I will cover, so don't worry too much, but if you can, it helps.
o---------------------------- MISSION COMPLETE ------------------------------o
Quite a few scenes follow this battle, so many that it gives you the option to
save in between them. After it's all over you'll be placed on the world map
again. The first thing to note is that the shop has been upgraded, be sure to
go there and pick up some new equipment. After that head to the guild.
Choose the Wanted Man and Alchemist Hunters quests. Head to Montano, make
sure you have at least one Vigor Seed with you. When it asks if you wish to
give the man a Vigor Seed choose yes and Zol will join your party. Same idea
for Saxum, head there and choose to intervene. You don't even have to fight
and Clemente will join your party. When you go back to the quests menu you
should be able to play the lottery, do it and see what you can win. All you
really need to do before going to the next area is make sure your equipment is
upgraded with all the new stuff you can buy, some fusion wouldn't hurt either.

This battle isn't going to be too tough, you'll have control of Avis in this
battle. Move Avis away from the large Golem to start. You'll need to move
your party across the water, and you should note that your AP drains faster
while moving through the water so get to the other side as fast as possible.
The Golem is extremely weak against magic and extremely strong against
physical attacks. Basically what this means is that Adara's Shock blast will
deal more than 200 damage, Linea's Storm ability will also deal nearly that
much and these will be your two main offensive sources in the battle. Other
than that, when they are attacking simply work to keep people alive.
o---------------------------- MISSION COMPLETE ------------------------------o
After the battle there's some more Guild Quests to do. Let's start by going
to the shop and making sure you have one Lead in your inventory then accept
the Aspiring Fusionist 1 quest and head to the Resistance Camp. You should
get a nice reward. Next take on the Lab Cleaning quest and head for Montano.
Tell him you like or dislike alchemy or whatever, either way you get the
money. After that you should see a traveling merchant quest pop up. Select
it and start running back and forth between all the cities, it seems he will
find you randomly (I found him in Eumaneia about ten days or so into the
quest.) Give him 20,000 to get the Rich Wallet. Next choose the Mock Battle
and head for the Resistance Camp and prepare yourself for battle.

Similar to pretty much every quest battle you've faced so far, this one
doesn't exactly present much of a challenge. Really the only thing you need
to watch out for is the fact that the Fighter positioned like the leader has a
Zone skill in effect that damages everyone who stands near him... but all you
have to do is kill him, and suddenly, that stupid effect is gone for good.

OH NO! A battle against a single enemy at a level significantly lower than
yours! If you're expecting some kind of surprise during this battle don't get
your hope up. All you need to do is grab Spero and Grey, have them pound this
guy into submission. About the only thing that separates him fro ma normal
enemy of his level if the HP total, perhaps twice as high but he will still
inevitably fall. Perhaps the only "suprise" could be his HP Absorbs Zone
Skill which will syphon the HP out of anyone standing near him on his turn
however it just doesn't syphon very much and really won't help him at all.

Just kind of a normal battle set in here to keep things moving, personally I
find it best to try and stay on the same side of the river you start for the
entire battle. As you slowly pick off guys on your side, enemies from the
other side will begin to cross but by the time they get through the water
there's no way they'll have enough AP left to attack and it's easy pickin'
from there. Be sure to bring Linea and Adara, both of them have powerful
ranged attacks so if you run out of enemies on your side of the river you can
take aim at enemies on the other side. As usual try to focus on the
Alchemists first lest you want to have your entire party inflicted with the
Dark status. Just eliminate all the enemies here to claim the win.

Definitely the most difficult battle you've faced so far, you don't even get a
chance to save after the previous one so if you lose this fight then you have
to fight both of them again. Let's take it easy and leave your party where
they start, the enemies will come to you which gives you a good advantage in
terms of AP. You should focus on killing the Iron Fist enemies first and
then, no matter what it takes, no matter what you do, kill those damn Clerics!
Their healing spells will be more annoying in this battle than ever before and
you can often find a lot of your hard work erased in seconds if they are left
alive to heal the enemies. Even if they aren't conveniently in range, get to
them and eliminate them. By the time you have eliminated all the enemies it's
time to go after Viper. Unlike previous battles where you had to get him down
to a certain amount of HP, this battle it's a matter of you kill him, or you
don't. There is no repeat value. Now this battle would be entirely easy if
it wasn't for one simple fact, Viper has a Fear inducing Zone effect that
surrounds every single panel around him, meaning anyone standing beside him
whether it be directly or diagonally is going to be effected by this Fear
status. For this reason you need to come into the battle with a hefty supply
of the Badge of Courage and also you need to attack defensively. Attack and
then retreat at least one panel, also try to spread out your party so when he
goes to attack one person, everyone won't get caught by the fear status.

Once again there are new items available at the shops so it's definitely
something you're going to want to check out. Be sure to upgrade the equipment
on all your party members. You should have received the Hero's Emblem from
the previous battle which allows your main character to rank up however in
order to do so you first need STR 45 and TEC 40 which will likely require a
few more increased levels. Be sure to accept the fusionist exam quest and
check out the two cheap ones. I'm not even sure how much money you need for
the traveling merchant, when I found him he said 25,000 wasn't enough ,so it's
more than that. After you've got all the basic ones out of the way select the
Imperial Reconnaissance which triggers a battle at the Swamp of Loss.

And the streak of relatively simple quest battles continues, coincedentally
after one of the hardest battles thus far. All you have to do is defeat these
four mediocre enemies. Start by attacking the soldiers and once the two of
them have been killed suddenly four new enemies will enter the battle, it's
basically just another wave of identical enemies to the ones you're already
fighting, so if you didn't have any trouble against these ones it shouldn't
take too long to cross the river and pick off the new enemies one by one.
o---------------------------- MISSION COMPLETE ------------------------------o
Now after you've got all quests done you're ready to proceed. Before going
onto the next map I've got a couple of tips for you. Normally I figure you
can just use the fusion list for yourself however if you're lazy, here's an
easy way to upgrade your katanas for Spero and your sword for Avis. For the
Katanas go to the store and buy Whistles and two Stone Rods. Fuse the two
Whistles with the Stone Rods to get two Talismans. Now go to the store and
buy two Iron Rods. Combine the two Talismans with the two Iron Rods to get
two Ashuras for Spero which you can't buy at the store yet. For the sword
it's even easier. Simply buy an Assassin Knife and Ring Mail then fuse them
together to get a Rapier which is better than any sword you can buy.
Hopefully this will help for the coming battle. Oh what the hell... one more.
Head to the shop and buy a couple Assassin Knives and Badges of Courage, fuse
them with each other to make yourself a couple Life Jackets and equip them on
your more magically inclined party members. This will really help out.

The second chapter starts you right away into a difficult battle. Unlike
previous battles there are more conditions here than just keeping your main
character alive, you've also got to keep that axe guy in the upper corner
alive as well. When you first get control of the guy you must absolutely not
in any way try to engage the enemy, the safest thing you can do is jump down
directly into the water and start running. This battle isn't going to be as
difficult as you think, here's how to win. Totally ignore the boss and the
three enemies surrounding him. The Archer near the boss will continue to pick
on your new axe wielding friend however his defenses are great so he'll be
able to withstand upwards of fifteen hits from the bows. Move him gradually
to the opposite side of the screen from where he started but not in the
direction of the boss. By the time he reaches the stairs leading up your
party should be there and ready to heal him. Speaking of your party they
should start by taking out the nearby Spearmen and gradually work back toward
the end. As you do this you'll eventually end up with just the one sole
Archer up top shooting down on the axe guy and probably another Archer
following him. You should have defeated two Spearmen, two Axemen and a
Cleric. Split your party into two, climb the stairs and take ou the Archer on
top then have the other group go down and eliminate the Archer who is
following axe-guy. When this is accomplished, the battle just ends.

This is a pretty straightforward battle here. No boss enemies, just a number
of normal enemies coming at you here. You'll probably find the Soldiers are
the most dangerous of all of them in terms of offense so it may be wise to
focus on them, as well as the Alchemist. Have one person from your party
branch off to kill the fighter on your right and have everyone else slowly
approach the soldiers, but only a couple panels at a time until the soldiers
move themselves. On the next turn you'll be able to attack them freely while
their AP is low. Magic spells work great, as does Spero's normal attakc if
you've upgraded your katanas. Your new character, Gallant, is also effective.

Once again the shop has been upgraded so it's a good idea to go there and see

When you arrive at Villa Fortuna you'll have the option of taking a rest.
Choosing to rest will trigger a battle while "keep moving" will not. It's up
to you. If you do choose to stay you've got a difficult battle ahead of you,
that's for sure. You have to face off against seven of these evil dog spirits
from hell. Each one of them is equipped with a spear meaning they can attack
from a distance and not only that, if you get surrounded by two of them they
will use powerful Team Attacks. Here's what I recommend: since you
automatically start with Linea and Adara at the bottom, take Spero and choose
Grey for his partner at the top. Spero and Grey should do pretty well on
hteir own and Adara and Linea should be able to hold their weight for awhile,
but likely they'll be overwhelmed eventually. Have Adada and Linea focus on
the nearest enemy to them, Adara should still be using Shock Blast while
Linea's normal attack is best. The reason for this is she can attack twice
and two normal attacks will be more powerful than either of her specials.
Have Spero and Grey move slowly so that the enemies approach them rather than
Vice Versa. In my case I had upgraded Spero's weapons to rank four like I
described earlier so his normal attack dealth over 150 damage. This really
came in handy when they walked up next to him, he could kill one of them in a
single turn. Even if this isn't the case and he has to move, that's why Grey
is there, to help clean up the leftovers. Eventually you should have both
parties try to come together, but by that time there probably won't be much
left of Adara's group, and most of the enemies will be dead anyway.
o---------------------------- MISSION COMPLETE ------------------------------o
By this point your party should be at, or near level eleven and it will only
take a short while to get to level eleven via the catacombs if you are not.
The reason I mention this is because ata level eleven your characters' stats
are high enough to finally rank up, and the power gained from an increased
rank is totally fantasterific. You'll definietely want to do it here.

If you ranked up your characters beforehand like I suggested then you should
have no problem with this battle, if you didn't then it may be a bit harder.
You're fighting seven of these enemies once again just like you did in the
rpevious battle however there are a couple of differences. On the advantage
side you are able to use more than four people. On the disadvantage side you
have to protect the little cat person and also given the enemies are more
grouped together they are more likely to attack as a group. Basically what
you need to do is try to take them on one at a time, picking off each one
individually, however that should not keep you from using group spells.
Skills like Linea's new Cluster Ray can easily hit three or more enemies at
once in this battle and that really helps out. Don't let the cat person get
killed, have it run toward you as your party protects it. You don't lose the
battle if she dies, but if you want the chance to recruit later you'll have to
keep her alive. Remember that once the perso is safe you can move back to the
old routine of playing defensively and letting the enemy come to you.

After this battle there should be quite a few new quests available so before
heading to the cathedral you should probably check those out. For the
Aspiring Fusionist 2 questr the person wants some Silver. Go to the shop and
buy Bronze and an Amulet. Fuse them together to get the Main Gauche and then
fuse the Main Gauche with a Long Sword you can buy at the store to get a
Silver. Now when you bring the Feather Hat to the woman she'll give you a
Blue Beret. Soon enough the Fusionist Exam 1 will become available and the
item you need is a Blue Beret so just leave it in your inventory and don't
equip it, you'll be ready for the exam when it comes around.

I'd like to meet the man who said quest battles are easy. I don't know where
this came from but at this point in the game there's about a 200% chance of
being overwhelmed in this battle. If you want to win this fight there's not
going to be any easy way of doing it, obviously the catacombs would be the
best bet since they allow you to level up gradually as you go further down.
The enemies have high attack power, high defense, high evade etc but keep in
mind they are indeed just normal enemies and without the crazy level
advantage, you can easily wipe the floor with all of them, no problem.

Time to take on six of these ferocious golems, each one has quite a bit of HP
and is capable of using attacks that not only hit multiple members of your
party, but powerful team attacks as well. For this reason you're going to
want to do everything you can to take on one golem at a time. Start by moving
your party to the right rather than going up the middle, you'll find a single
golem there. Have everyone in your party focus their attacks on it, you
should be able to defeat the golem without problem. After this you'll be
attacked by two golems, there isn't a lot you can do about that. Try to keep
your distance and use Linea and Adara to perform ranged attacks, with any luck
you'll be able to thin them out so two approach you, but only one reaches you.
At that point your physical fighters like Spero and finish the job. Finally
it's time to climb the stairs and take on the three at the top. You can try
moving slowly so you only lure them toward you one at a time however I find
they seem to be much more eager to attack as a group. This is where it gets
dangerous. Try to keep you party on the flat part at the top of the stairs as
opposed to the side of the stairs. If you're close to the side the golems
will jump down on the lower platforms and attacking, the height differences
will just make it more difficult for you to keep up. Also watch out for
golems with Fear zones, you don't want to find yourself caught in one.

The goal of this battle is to defeat Viser, however that goal can be a little
misdirective. If you don't wish to you don't actually have to defeat Viser,
there's a reason you should however. Basically, if you wish to recruit Viser
later as a permanent character, you must defeat him in this battle. Before
you go ahead with this knowledge you should also know there is another win
condition here, defeating four Golems will also end this battle. For those
who have no interest in recruiting him you can simply got for this goal as it
is much easier and can be attained at level eleven or twelve or so. In order
to defeat Viser you will be required to be at level fifteen or sixteen or so
because you need to engage him, but while doing so you need to be able to
weather the Golems' attacks since if you defeat too many the battle will end.
On top of all this you will have to be able to deal more than 500 damage with
a team attack since Viser will run from the battle when his HP starts to get
below 500, and having him run from battle is unacceptable if you wish to
recruit him into your party. You need to get up there and totally drain his
HP, it's quite difficult, but that's life I guess. Either way this battle
isn't going to be easy. For those looking to just defeat the Goelms run every
member of you party to the right at the very beginning of battle, the three
Golems at the top of the stairs will fire beams from a far distance unless you
get everyone out of the way. When you do you should be able to use that side
area like a safe haven to avoid most of the attacks, and slowly move outward.

Holy baloney this battle can get REALLY hard, even if you know what you're
doing. Admittedly I was probably underleveled with an average level of
thirteen, but still, even a ocuple of levels still wouldn't have made it easy.
If your equipment is outdated I highly suggest checking the fusion charts and
getting yourself some upgraded weapons for your party. First of all you are
given four slots for people here rather than the normal six. I would take
Spero, Grey, Adara and Linea for this one, they'll come in handy most. If you
think you'll need to subsitute one of those for a healer than think again,
your two guests in this battle and both proficient healers. The following is
the best way to approach this fight without getting your ass handed to you:
first of all your should note that you should NOT move the two healers at all.
If they do not move they will not be attacked and you don't have to worry
about protecting them, at least for now. When they turns comes up just have
them empty their AP to 0 each time. Now what you want to do is move grey
slightly to the left, Spero right to the bottom of the stairs and have Adara
and Linea stay around the middle. The two Swordmasters and Aze Knights will
descend the stairs to attack you. Grey and Spero should tak eon the enemies
at their respective sides with the support of Adara and Linea in the middle.
Try to focus more on one side so you can eliminate them faster and then send
everyone over to the other side. After they are dead gather all four of your
party members together and begin to climb either staircase. When you get
close enough to the Devil enemies they will move toward you. This is your cue
to finally take control of the Prist and Priestess. Move them toward your
party. While it is true that your goal is to protect them, you'll want to
have them with you at all times, just keep them at the rear. There are two
reasons for this, one is because they are great healers, and in Lumena's case,
she has a huge HP Restore zone skill radius, have her end her turn at 0 AP
with your party nearby and they'll all be substantially healed for no MP cost.
When the two Devils and the Cleric that comes down have been defeated, Jade
and the enemies who surround him will start moving, this is where it gets
really dangerous. I'm going to warn you right here, right now, because the
follow circumstance gave me a total of four gameovers in this battle before I
finally won: if Jade and one Devil enemy get close to you, they WILL use a
Team Attack guaranteed, it WILL deal over 400 damage, and in my case they WILL
target your main character despite the fact that there are weaker characters
nearby. Spero dies and it's game over. Very frustrating, but as far as I can
tell he can only use this Team Attack once so you may want to keep him in the
back until it occurs. You can go about this however you want but I chose to
eliminate the Devils rather than focusing an offensive on Jade. Jade is a
very difficult enemy to defeat. Most of the reason for this is his very high
Evade stat, attacking him from the front will almost always yield a miss. You
need to use Magic spells as much as possible, Adara's Bullet Spray and Linea's
Storm. Along with these you'll need Team Attacks. Skills come after but he
seems to have a high chance of guarding them. The one lucky thing for you
however is that you only need to get him down to 700 HP before he escapes from
the battle. The last thing I want to mention is that his three attacks-in-a-
row can easily take down even your strongest member. If he has to move even a
single panel then he can only use two attacks, this can mean the difference
bewteen life and death so whatever you do, don't leave anyone next to him.

Before this battle begins be sure to choose "Ready? You're going to find
out!" It will help you recruit an additional character later. I'm going to
have a personal bias here that probably isn't going to help out much since
after that last battle, I got frustrated and went to level up my party in the
catacombs up to level sixteen average, giving a decent advantage here,
especially given I fused rank seven weapons. Either way it's still going to
proceed in mostly the same matter. Have your party begin jumping one at a
time up the boxes piled up beside where you start. When you defeat the
enemies at the top after climbing the boxes, given your only real goal is to
defeat Echidna I figure you might as well jsut cross the bridge and start
right at it. You'll definietely want to defeat the two Swordmasters beside
her first since one of them has HP Recovery and the other has HP Absorb.
Echidna herself has a Zone skill as well called Sans Skills. Basically it
means anyone within a coupleof panels of her cannot use skills, but for
someone like Spero that's note going to make a difference anyway since he can
deal more damage with three attacks in a row than with any skill. The Priest
from the top will come up and begin to heal Echidna, you might want to
dispatch a party member to take out the priest, but being healed for about 200
every time six of your characters attack really isn't going to make much
difference in the long run, just be offensive with this one and when you
manage to get her HP down to around 800, the battle is automatically won.

You'll be facing nine devils here, perhaps it's just me but I find that with
their 300 range HP levels, they go down really easy compared to most other
enemies you've been fighting up to this point. Also given that they are
spread out so much you should really only have to fight them one at a time.
Be sure to take advantage of the terrain as well, an enemy at the top of the
stairs can easily be picked at with magic and nearly defeated before he even
gets to the bottom. Just make your way around the map gradually eliminating
all the devils you find until finally, there are no more of them reamining.

There are a number of normal Master ALchemists here along with a special
alchemist type called a Sage, and that's old Malkar up top. Here's not too
much more difficult than other alchemists so you need not worry too much.
Alchemists are strong against magic, weak against physical attacks, they have
the ability to heal, inflict magic damage and inflict status effects. YOu can
see that having quite a lot of alchemists on the field can get annoying but
forrtunately like usual you should be able to just focus on one at a time.
Make sure to avoid most things that would damage a little but not kill, mostly
because you'll find then they'll just keep healing each other. Hit hard and
hit fast to make sure you eliminate them, don't leave them weak.
