SECTION 6: CLOSING ======================================= ==SECTION 1: HISTORY OF DANSHOKU DINO== ======================================= Let's see... how to make the most out of this guide and still maintain a "G" rating for the kiddies... this is gonna be tough, but here goes... Odds are if you're unfamiliar with the crazy Japanese wrestling promotion DDT, you more than likely have absolutely no idea who Danshoku Dino is. And while his short career (he debuted in 2003) can by no means fill an entire bio section, perhaps his outlandish gimmick can. You see, Danshoku Dino's ring persona is that of a wrestler who leads an "alternative lifestyle", and has learned to put some of his "talents" to use inside the squared circle. (I'm hoping most of you can read between the lines, I'm having a hard time with this!). As a result, Dino has created an unique arsenal of wrestling "techniques" that may never (and from all accounts, SHOULD never) be duplicated. Despite - or perhaps because of - his provocative mannerisms, Dino has enjoyed a taste of success in DDT, winning both the DDT Iron Man Heavy Metal Title and the DDT KO-D Tag Team Title with Glenn Spectre (Dino apparently wanted to change the "K" in KO-D to a word that rhymes with that letter -- I'll leave it up to you to figure that one out). Like other Japanese indy workers with wild gimmicks (Ebessan immediately comes to mind), Dino has managed to branch outside the world of DDT, working for Mexico's AAA promotion, competing in the ZERO-1 MAX World 1 Junior Tournament (where he worked "straight" the entire tour), and even managing to make his presence felt in some of Japan's higher profile matches (he interrupted a Jun Akiyama match by kissing male fans on the lips -- Akiyama was supposedly terrified of Dino until it was revealed he'd set the whole thing up himself!). Dino was also featured prominently in several Spike articles leading up to the release of Fire Pro R, where he could be seen "warming up" to FPR mascot Mask de Spike. And in case you were wondering, not ALL of Dino's gimmick is 100% gimmick (c'mon, work with me here... I'm trying to be discreet!). ======================================== ==SECTION 2: SKILL AND PARAMETER STATS== ======================================== SKILL ----- Real Name..................Danshoku Dino FPR Name....................Nichome Vino Promotion............................DDT FPR Promotion........................BBT FPR Faction.............Main Army/Roster Size...............................Small Class.............................Junior Height............................179 cm Weight.............................95 kg Gender.............Male? Instead, what he is built to do is flat-out entertain. And with arguably the most entertaining moveset in the entire game, you should have no problem getting a kick out of what Dino has to offer. Dino has no exceptional stats offensively or defensively, save for the "Entertainment" area. And since many of his signature moves fall into this category, you may be able to make an impact by repeatedly using these moves. But since nearly every pro wrestler has a high Entertainment defensive stat, this small advantage can also be quickly negated. If you NEED to win a Dino match, you need to play very conservatively. With low Recovery and Respiratory stats, every wasted move is going to count against you! Don't throw out errant strikes just because you can... the breathing energy they consume is too precious. Instead, focus on winning your grapples, then executing your finisher as soon and as many times as possible (see "Grapples" for more info). Winning aside, the joy in playing as Dino comes from embarrassing his opponents with his outrageous moveset. Seeing him lay a liplock on an unsuspecting opponent or perform an exotic dance over the head of an unwilling victim are just of a couple of Fire Pro R's more unforgettable moments! Even seemingly innocent moves such as the abdomen lock seem to take on a whole new meaning when Dino is the performer of said technique! Shockingly, Dino even has a few moves that lead to the MMA mount position. But considering his "1" offensive rating in this area, we can safely assume he's not going to that position of give Fedor a run for his money! Indeed, the key word in Dino's offense is "humiliation." If you're playing against a human opponent, perhaps you can do enough psychological damage to gain an advantage. At the very least, you can hope they drop the controller while bursting with laughter! STRIKES Nope, you don't want to be doing too much of this. Weak punch/kick stats, bland attacks, plus low respiratory stats that will have you gassed out sooner than a Ford Excursion on "E" in the middle of the Grand Canyon. Nothing worth mentioning here, let's move on. GRAPPLES Now we're getting somewhere. While Dino's grappling moves aren't really any more potent than his strikes, they're a helluva lot more entertaining to watch (or maybe not, depending on your stance). Let's take a look at a few of Dino's more... "colorful"... moves: From a back grapple, the Liplock is an absolute must at least once in every Dino match, and the Arm Slam/Rock Bottom (which isn't exactly how Dino performs it, but oh well) is a signature front grapple that shouldn't be ignored. And don't forget to corner grapple with Dino, as two of his three corner grapples are an absolute riot to behold. The single deadliest attack in Dino's arsenal is his finisher, the dreaded Danshoku Driver, which consists of Dino stuffing his opponent's head into his skimpy wrestling tights before giving them a piledriver. If ever one needed a visual reference of how to add insult to injury, this is it! And of course, since it has a high Entertainment rating as well as the ability to "CRITICAL!" as a finisher, it is Dino's strongest weapon by far. ================================== ==SECTION 5: MORE FUN WITH DINO!== ================================== You thought this guide was over, but the FPR fun with Dino doesn't stop there! You can always: * Edit one of Dino's four costumes to be entirely flesh-colored! * Put Dino in the octagon and watch him take liberties with those tough as-nails shooters, who just so happen to have some of the lowest defensive Entertainment stats in FPR! And don't forget to mount! * Create a Chris Benoit edit and give him Dino's moves, then invite your smart mark friends over and watch them blow a gasket! * Use Dino's moveset as a base for your WWE Diva edits! Who needs B&P? (NOTE: You'll have to set their gender to Female(?) to do this!) * Put Dino in the steel cage with a wrestling purist such as Lou Thesz, then have fun trying to decide who wants out of the cage worse! * Enter Dino in a joshi (all-female) tournament and pretend he is being forced to compete against his will! * Put 4 Dinos in a tornado tag and watch them go at one anoth... on second thought, let's finish this guide while we're ahead. =P ====================== ==SECTION 6: CLOSING== ====================== In closing, I would like to thank Jason Blackhart for statistical information and for providing Dino's FPR name, Michael "maikeru" Leal and tokerblue for movelist information, and Fat Dave for moveset clarification.
