#2 - Gran Turismo
Polyphony's Gran Turismo appeared from nowhere to wipe the floor with every other 'realistic' racer. Showcasing pseudo-reflection effects, the showroom shine didn't just end with the benchmark graphics. The extensive engine tuning and rock-solid split-screen mode provided both depth and fun. While its sequel was bigger and better, no other game has stamped its authority on a genre to quite the same extent as GT.
