Burton is Cannes' Head Judge

Everyone’s favourite goth, Tim Burton, has been named head of the jury for this May’s Cannes Film Festival.

With all eyes on Sundance, the folks in France wanted a little attention too, and Burton headlining the Cannes’ jury will do that.

"When you think of Cannes you think of World Cinema," said Burton, who was probably cloaked in several shades of black at the time, "And as films have always been like dreams to me, this is a dream come true."

It’s not known if Burton will feel so honoured once he finds out he can’t cast Johnny Depp in the jury, but that cord had to be cut sooner or later.

Burton follows the likes of Sean Penn, Isabelle Huppert, Stephen Frears, and Quentin Tarantino, who all presided over the Cannes’ jury.

Burton will be joined by nine jurors, once the organisers’ delve into their little black book of who's who in world cinema.

The Cannes' selection of films will be annouced in mid-April, and the festival itself takes place between 12th - 23rd May.
