Burnout creators announce Dangerous Golf - it's exactly what you'd expect

Three Fields Entertainment, the team of ex-Criterion devs making their first indie game, sent out a lengthy press release about Dangerous Golf today. It revealed that it was a digital-only game, coming in May to Xbox One, PS4 and Steam. It revealed that it was a game that tasks you with doing as much property damage as possible, while also rewarding you for pulling off trick shots. It revealed that you could turn the ball into a bomb. All it actually needed to be was five words long, reading:

"Crash mode, but with golf."

Not that we begrudge them the extra info - it's just that that sentence alone sends me into giddy office chair spins of delight. But Burnout doesn't seem to be the sole reference point here. To quote from said press release:

"It’s as serious a golf game as Burnout was a serious simulation to driving games. We wanted to mix the attitude of Burnout with the destruction of Black whilst setting the golf ball on fire — a nod to NBA Jam."

In talking to Eurogamer, Three Fields co-founder Alex Ward also revealed that the game includes both couch co-op and online multiplayer, meaning you should be able to offer up a challenge no matter the situation.

To me, it's already sounding like the same kind of high-concept, high-fun sports-abomination that dominated last year, Rocket League. I am ready.
