Game of Thrones' Sophie Turner talks dark Sansa and her 'taste for killing' in season 7

Ahead of Game of Thrones season 7, Sophie Turner's currently doing a little promo for season 6 on Blu-ray and teasing out some possible futures for Sansa. Particularly the idea that she's getting a taste for power and maybe even a little light murder.

Speaking to The Express, for example, she says this of the last season's finale: "at the end of the season Sansa gets a taste of power – and it's the first time that she's had that ever, really." As well as the whole war thing (which I'll get to in a moment) part of that power's come from killing Ramsey and it's something that might affect Sansa in ways Turner's only teasing at currently.

"There's the smile, her walking away after killing Ramsay," she explains. "That's  quite interesting. You wonder if it's just a smile because it's her first kill, because this man is out of her life, or whether she's going to get a taste for it. Whether she enjoyed it. Whether it's a power trip. But she definitely is a lot more powerful, and it'll be very interesting to see how she handles that coming up this season."

In addition, her increasing power is because "she did so much for Jon and the North" Turner says, but points out that, despite her efforts, she "doesn't get any recognition for it. It was like she had that first taste of power and then was immediately stripped of it."

In another interview with Vulture Tuner adds a little more, saying "she was trying to give her input to Jon and trying to be a collaborative leader, but it's difficult when it's a patriarchy and when there's sexism. It would be a real adjustment for Jon to listen to her and do what she says. So she was looking to Littlefinger like, oh, you're right. Maybe that pretty picture you painted of me on the throne and you by my side isn't such a bad one."

Finally, Tuner hints at where this could all be going in season 7, thanks to a subtle costume change. "When she changed her outfit, that was just the first hint that she was ready to start playing the game. That was a mild version of Dark Sansa," she says, "and now it's really starting to feel like there is a dark side to her. She's playing the game now, and very ruthlessly. When she wants something, she's going to go out and get it."

Game of Thrones season 7 will debut in summer 2017.
