Bruce Campbell on handing over the Evil Dead franchise

The brand new issue of Total Film magazine is out now (and it’s available for only £1.99 on your iPad , or save 50% on the cover price by subscribing to the magazine with our winter 2012 offer ), and inside Bruce Campbell talks about the Evil Dead remake .

We take a look at two upcoming horror remakes that could buck the trend by actually being good - Evil Dead and Carrie .

Not sure that Sam Raimi’s cabin-horror scare-fest needs a remake? Perhaps Bruce Campbell can convince you otherwise.

When we caught up with the undead-battling actor for this month’s issue, he told us how new director Fede Alvarez sold the idea of a remake to him and Raimi:

“He pitched a full-length story and we really liked it. He wrote a script and we kept liking it. It sort of grew on us like a wart.

“Plus, when you see the chances of making a sequel receding every year, like our hairlines, you realise maybe we should get a new punk in here with five new kids to torment.

“We can use our experience to help guide the filmmaker to come up with a new balls-out movie that will torment people for the rest of their lives. We think he did it!”

Evil Dead opens in the UK on 19 April 2013.
