Brink 'Abilities' trailer highlights the game's depth

Brink is hard to write about (that hasn't stopped us, of course). Even after playing it several times over the course of the last year or so, I still don't feel that I really understand its depth. Granted, most of the times I played it were standing in a crowd on a convention floor, which isn't the ideal way to experience anything, but regardless, it'll take a long, focused play session to really get to its core. Until then, this new trailer pretty well sums up how I feel about the game:

Brink is out May 17 in North America, and May 20 in Europe. We look forward to digging in.

@manicania the multiplayer is the story mode with live players instead of bots thats all on another note...HELL YEAH may 10th is the end of my social life

The game really is not like TF2 at all. If you're going to compare games, at least compare accurately. The core gameplay of Brink is similar to Enemy Territory and Quake Wars - hence why those games are developed by the same studio.

    Really though,I need a job...

    @hardcore_gamer1990: Maybe both?

I'm still really hesitent with this game. It looks cool, but I'm afraid it won't be too enjoyable. I'm not a huge fan of First-Person, and for me, multiplayer needs to be an exact-science, so I'll probably rent it or wait for a review at least.

to me, this looks like 20 percent Killzone, 20 percent Team Fortress 2, and then 60 percent something else entirely.

This game better be fawking awesome. It's one of the few (if not the only) T-rated shooters in 2011, so I'm hyping this quite a bit.
  • gmknoble - April 6, 2011 12:25 a.m.

I really hope this game turns out to be epic.

@hardcore gamer#### I'm betting it will be the combination of the two! I'm really excited for this one; shooters are fun, but when it's a shooter with some character (bulletstorm, half life 2... the list goes on) then I really respect the game, and it becomes a much more memorable experience

I want to like this one but the characters are just but ugly to me maybe the preorder bonus from best will help a Vault-Boy SMG skin you can kill people with post apocalyptic style, and its Vault-Boy Approved!

I keep trying to convince myself this won't be that good but they just keep trying to prove me wrong and keep me interested. Oh well lookin like a pretty solid purchase so far...

    Can't wait!

Though I'm not an FPS fan, I really want this game to succeed. Any game that puts a good spin on the FPS genre (Mirror's Edge, Bulletstorm), I really want to see do well. The FPS genre has really grown stale and needs games like these.

    Wow. Very interesting.
  • hardcore_gamer1990 - April 5, 2011 8:38 p.m.

Niiice. Get the feeling this could go one of two ways though - it'll either be the next Team Fortress, or the next Mirrors Edge
  • fibo444 - April 5, 2011 8:37 p.m.

C-c-c-first. It looks like it has great potential. It is unique in its character design.
