Brett Ratner and Chris Tucker: together again

As if inflicting increasingly dodgy Rush Hour movies on an unsuspecting public wasn’t enough, Brett Ratner is now planning to bring Chris Tucker back to our screens for something that doesn’t involve Jackie Chan or a boatload of stereotypes.

New Line has optioned the rights to the book Mr S: My Life With Frank Sinatra, penned by George Jacobs (with William Stadiem), about his life as a valet to the legendary crooner.

Published in 2003, it offered a warts-and-all glimpse behind the silvery curtain of Sinatra’s career and his time with the rat pack. Ratner plans to direct, while Tucker will play Jacobs, after meeting with the man and apparently getting on like a house on fire.

Stadiem – no stranger to writing about the Hollywood old guard – will pen the script for the movie "It's like a love story between two very unlikely people," he gassed to Variety. "Brett is a Rat Pack obsessive, and so it's fun to work with someone so passionate about the period. I think he's channelling Frank sometimes." Yes, it’s true. Someone really thinks that Brett Ratner is as cool as Frank Sinatra. Pass the sick bucket…
