Bond Director Plans To Reboot Blakes 7 For US TV

We’ve been bemoaning the lack of space opera on TV in recent years, but if Green Lantern and Casino Royale director Martin Campbell gets his way, we could be seeing the return of one of the small screen’s greatest space operas – Blake’s 7 .

Campbell is tipped to direct the pilot of a new US TV series based on the Terry Nation-created show. It will be produced by Georgeville Television, which is currently shopping the project around Stateside networks. Writer Joe Pokaski ( Heroes , CSI ) is writing the pilot.

GVTV secured the rights to the Blake’s 7 franchise from rightsholder Andrew Mark Sewell and his company B7 Media, with funding provided by MPC (Motion Picture Capital), reports Deadline . Campbell, Pokaski, MPC’s Deepak Nayar and Leon Clarance, and Sewell will executive produce.

Sky1 announced a remake a few years back but scrapped the plan in 2010. GVTV’s first series, Neil Cross’s Crossbones , received a 10-episode order at NBC for mid-season.

So let the fantasy casting begins. Suggestions below.

And even though any US reboot of a UK series is initially met with suspicion, we still can’t help feeling a little… Wooooohooooooo!

You never know… it could be the new Battlestar Galactica .
