Blanchett is Bob

So hands up who scratched their heads when Velvet Goldmine helmer Todd Haynes said he was making a Bob Dylan biopic – with something in the region of seven actors said to be playing the not-so-merry balladeer? Yeah, us too.

Add to that the fact that Todd has a few lady-thesps in the frame to portray the wire-maned musician and I’m Not There takes on a whole new level of freaky… but strangely appealing.

The first pics of Cate Blanchett strutting her stuff as Bob have popped up over at rollingstone.com and it has to be said, she cuts a pretty cool likeness to the mid-sixties Bobster.

Blanchett appears alongside Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Richard Gere and Julianne Moore but it’s not certain yet who will be playing supporting roles and who will be plucking an acoustic guitar and warbling Subterranean Homesick Blues.
