BioWare says no Shepard in Mass Effect 4

BioWare has been pretty forthcoming about the sci-fi RPG shooter series not ending with Mass Effect 3, but has been cagey on any other details. Now we know we're in for a whole new context and characters in the next game thanks to an interview with VG247.

"There is one thing we are absolutely sure of--there will be no more Shepard, and the trilogy is over," BioWare Montreal producer Fabrice Condominas said. The series' rich setting gives the team worlds of possibilities to pursue, Condominas said, and at this point he's not even sure what time frame the game will occur in.

"So first, we don’t want to make 'Shepard 2,' or Mass Effect 4 with like, 'oh there’s no more Shepard but you’re a soldier in the universe,'" Condominas said. "So this will be a very, very different context for sure, and nothing has been decided on the rest."

What sort of context would you want from the next Mass Effect game, knowing that Shepard-Commander is out of the picture (at least as a main character)? Loose cannon C-Sec officer who can't help but love an Asari consort with a heart of gold? One of those praying mantis things that takes care of the Citadel? Sarcastically questioning: Elkor?
