Beyond Good & Evil: game nobody bought getting HD treatment, coming to PSN and XBLA in 2011

Shares

Beyond Good & Evil is one of those games that hardly anybody played but everyone talks about. Just like Okami, it's another of gaming's great underrated injustices. But it's getting another chance. A shinier, more sparkly chance. A downloadable chance. A chance that is called Beyond Good & Evil HD.

On its way to Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network sometime in 2011, Beyond Good & Evil HD will be fully spuffed with 1080p definition, up-sexed visuals, textures etc, a re-mastered soundtrack, Achievements and Trophies and online leaderboards.

If you're in the dark about what Beyond Good & Evil is all about, this trailer for the original 2003 game will give you a pretty good heads-up of what to expect:

I played and completed the game on PS2 when it was first released. It's a good game, but I wouldn't go so far as to say it's a classic. Some of the hovercraft sections were an almighty pain in the ass and the stealth section won't be to everyone's liking. Still, it's a solid 8 for sure and definitely worth checking when it hits the XBLs and PSNs next year. Let's hope Beyond Good & Evil 2 isn't far behind.

Please join me now in celebrating the news of Beyond Good & Evil HD by taking a couple of minutes to enjoy my favourite tune from the game:

Its true that parts of the game were not great but it is one of those great games where the whole is just so much better than the sum of its parts. Really looking forward to this but i would rather someone just sat down and finished BGaE 2!

More than likely it will only release on the PS3 due to Micro$oft stupid ass 2GB limit. Seriously 2GB that dosent mean shit nowadays!

............:D I wanted to DL this for Steam, but it wouldn't run well on my computer and I didn't want to go through the trouble of it not working at all. Now I am excited.

Is it just me, or are all my favorite games from the last generation getting an HD makeover? Psychonauts and The Curse of Monkey Island next!

Another game I will have the chance to play since I missed out on it when it was first released. May I suggest an HD remake of Jet Set Radio Future next. I would be extremely happy. A new game in that series would be great too.

OH GAWD YEAH. I played a ton of BG&E; the only shitty thing about it was that there was no "NewGame+" feature, so there was no persistence or anything. There were a few problems I had with the game and it would be cool if they were fixed. That said, you bastards better buy it this time so that Ubi knows there's interest in a sequel! @MattCundy: "Propaganda" is good and all, but "Hylian Suite" is the end-all-be-all of the BG&E OST.

I'm glad this is coming out. I had it on PS2 but my disk was messed up and I've been to Lazy to replace it. Now I can finally play this and see why it was so beloved by critics.

My question, can it fit into the 2 GB size limit if XBLA? I know Just Add Water is having trouble fitting Oddworld [whatever the name is] into the XBLA limit.

This for me was one of the first great (coherent, well-acted) stories in video games, so I am deliriously happy right now.
