GR actually PRAISED FFX? My god, how old is this list?! Everybody who worked on it must've left years ago!

No Haunting Ground?! What the fuck.

Thank you for having Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner in the list. I played a demo of this game back when PS2 Magazines came with Demo Disks, and that game was one I was most fascinated with. I have wanted the game and have been trying to figure out it's name for 8 years. Thank you!

Silent Hill 2 should be higher. My top 4 is: Silent Hill 2 Persona 4 Final Fantasy X Okami

Okay so it may only be me but we're is Battlefront 2 I mean that was an awesome game. Or Balders Gate Dark Alliance?

ICO... Really shouldn't be in the list, let alone that high. That game does not hold the test of time at all, the combat is absurdly simple and repetitive, the puzzles swing between simple pushing chores to obtuse. The jumping is imprecise, and your AI companion is atrociously stupid. As in, she'll climb a stair up when you're coming down level of stupid. And I'm saying that as someone who does love shadow of the colossus and agrees with its placement. That game worked because everything it sets to do functions as it should. ICO doesn't.

The Japanese and European versions are supposed to be better than the US one. I've played both and I honestly couldn't tell much difference in her AI. Anyway, I love the game, but it did piss me off a lot. It can be so damn tedious. Especially when you miss a jump because it won't let you move the camera and see where the hell you're supposed to land and then you die and wait for it to load and then spend the next 10 minutes climbing all the way back to where you were, only to miss the jump and die again. Fuck that game.

Yeah, I played it on the ICO collection, which is supposed to be the "better" version you mentioned, and I still think the game plays like shit.

Where the chuff is Hardware: Online Arena??? Isn't this considered one of the first online games for the PS2? Was also damned good fun with too!!!

I know that when you make a list like this for a console with as many quality titles as the PS2 had, you will ultimately have some ppl upset at the placement or that their fav game didn't make the cut.. a list like this can never be definitive...but HOW THE HELL CAN YOU NOT INCLUDE GTA3?? that is absolutely criminal...GTA3 is the most groundbreaking game of all time and absolutely revolutionised the industry....i had to create an account just to add my 2 cents... im not someone piping up and wondering why phsychonauts isn't number 33 or something ridiculous like that.. im wondering why GTA3, the most groundbreaking game of all time is not even on the list??

Groundbreaking doesn't mean good. San Andreas is here, it's generally considered better than 3, and it's high. Plus, this list is more of a "suck off as many franchises as possible" list than a real one. Otherwise we'd have more than one game from a few franchises.
  • B.J. - August 4, 2014 6:25 a.m.

You misspelled 'Wild Arms 3'. 'Shadow of the Colossus' isn't even close. (Not to mention you even misspelled your misspelling!)
  • john-zongo - August 3, 2014 10:34 a.m.

No Freedom Fighters, Psi-Ops, The Suffering, or Madden? Those were favorites of mine not listed here. Glad San Andreas, God of War II, Socom II, and Gran Turismo were on there at least.
  • tyler-valdez - August 3, 2014 8:37 a.m.

Abe's Odyssey was one of my all time favorites. Although, that may have been a PS1 game, but I know you could play it on PS2.
  • haydenholm - August 3, 2014 6:39 a.m.

LOVE the list. My personal top 10: 10. Madden 04 9. Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly 8. Jak 3 7. Burnout 3: Takedown 6. Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex 5. Medal of Honor: Rising Sun 4. Star Wars Battlefront 2 3. Dynasty Warriors 5 2. Kingdom Hearts 2 1. Shadow of Rome I missed Shadow of the Collosus and Ico so I literally just ordered the remastered pack Shadow of Rome is one of the most underrated games of ALL TIME I loved the combo of stealth missions and gladiator fights and the story was great I put more hours into Dynasty Warriors 5 with my cousin than any game including Halo 3 when we were all playing that friday nights in the first 2 years of high school
