Best of E3 06: PlayStation 2

Sony's juggernaut bows out gracefully, with a crop of fine-looking games

Most unsettling game of E3: Rule of Rose

Publisher: Atlus
Developer: Punchline / Shirogumi
Release Date: Fall 2006

Given that nearly every other PS2 game on this list has a numeral in it somewhere, we think it's only fair to include at least one that tries to stand on its own. It wasn't easy to pick just one, but we think Rule of Rose deserves the recognition. A survival-horror adventure about a young girl forced to find gifts for murderous children in a gigantic zeppelin, it's certainly an original concept.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

After graduating from college in 2000 with a BA in journalism, I worked for five years as a copy editor, page designer and videogame-review columnist at a couple of mid-sized newspapers you've never heard of. My column eventually got me a freelancing gig with GMR magazine, which folded a few months later. I was hired on full-time by GamesRadar in late 2005, and have since been paid actual money to write silly articles about lovable blobs.
