Best games

GR is going strikingly against the grain this year. Not necessarily a bad thing, but I'm a bit sceptical about all these "must-plays" I've backlogged. Destiny? Watch Dogs? (And now Unity?) Hmm...
  • ZeeCaptain - November 6, 2014 12:53 a.m.

I think back to games like Watch Dogs, and think "Really, that was May of this year?" O.o seems so long ago...
  • shawksta - November 1, 2014 7:37 p.m.

I love the borderlands series and should play Pre-sequel Bayonetta 2 is awesome just from the demo and it has all reason to be played, especially with Gamespot's 10. But i cant Because i cant stop playing Smash Bros on 3DS My time is already tight so anytime i get free time its always my 3DS Smash is sooooo addicting I keep playing Smash Run despite how i said im dissapointed with no online Online is great and works fine so i never stop. Goddamn This is just the 3DS version.

Mario Kart 8 runner up to Watchdogs my arse! Plus I would say Mordor was the better game of september.
  • winner2 - October 31, 2014 3:38 p.m.

There are some major errors with this list. Games not where they should be. Shovelknight losing to Grid Mario Kart losing to god damn watchdogs broken age losing to banner saga (I havn't played banner yet but I'll admit this one could be debatable)
  • homestar99 - October 31, 2014 4:40 p.m.

I thought the biggest offence was Shadow of Mordor being second Destiny.
  • winner2 - October 31, 2014 4:50 p.m.

Honestly I agree but I didn't say anything because I didn't LOVE mordor like I thought I would love a 4.5. I played it consistently and enjoyed it but it wasn't like when I first played AC2. Great game but the story/premise felt a little weak/unimportant to me. Also I feel like you HAVE to bump up the difficulty to the highest for the nemesis system to do as great things as were predicted. I died less than 4 times on normal difficulty, and never had any moments where I was like "I'm gonna kill this bastard this time I swear to god."
  • homestar99 - November 1, 2014 9:46 a.m.

Well of course. My main reasoning however was showcasing that Destiny is a mediocre pile of slog. Mordor doesn't have to be that good, just better than Destiny.
  • winner2 - November 1, 2014 3:43 p.m.

I'll agree to that, I just didn't feel very strongly about either so I didn't get vocal about it. It is definitely better than destiny though, I agree.
  • ZeeCaptain - November 6, 2014 12:57 a.m.

I just hate how people can look at this list and see "huh why did 'Shadows of Mordor' get runner up? Oh Destiny" Too much hype, people that never played it just assume its Halo and thus 'good'.
  • homestar99 - November 6, 2014 6:55 a.m.

I did bother to play it. My friend was trying really hard to get me to like it. But it was just so damn repetitive and full of grind. I was also hoping for an at least somewhat decent story. But that sucked a big one. I didn't assume it to be Halo before playing. I assumed it to be exactly what I got: A Mediocre Pile of Slog.

The irony of the exclusives this month is hilarious Finally after years of trying they didn't actually fuck up an Aliens game
  • _--_ - October 31, 2014 1:01 p.m.

--IDK about alien isolation being THE BEST game this month --and I think "the evil within" deserves atleast runner up for October
  • Jackonomics2.0 - October 31, 2014 2:21 p.m.

Evil within still sucks as a game, it just has a new gimmick of horror that's fresh. A new concept doesn't redeem an average not so wow game
  • _--_ - October 31, 2014 3:07 p.m.

--nah --its one of the better games for October --gimmicky? --what gimmicks?
  • homestar99 - November 6, 2014 7 a.m.

The fact that it likes to pretend it's Survival Horror by giving you a few stealth sections with the stealth mechanics that were pretty much mandatory to put in and that they give you incredibly limited ammo. Aside from that it's Resident Evil 4 with a boring protagonist and zero sense of self awareness. Funny how one of the more Survival Horror-like parts in the game was the Hospital at the beginning. Funny how that was also what was showed off in the games E3 trailer.
  • _--_ - November 6, 2014 10:58 a.m.

--thats not gimmicks --thats basic genre mechanics --a gimmick is a 'trick'(that tricks people into buying a product~basically a lie) --for example --smartphone commercials(especially Apple) --you know those ridiculous ipad commercials? --were it looks like you can use an ipad to do ALL THESE AMAZING THINGS --thats 'gimmicks' heres a link --people buy an ipad --and then ALL THEY DO is surf the web and play farm games(and use regular ole apps)
  • homestar99 - November 6, 2014 5:21 p.m.

Alright. That's fair. Just watch this:
  • _--_ - November 6, 2014 7:55 p.m.

--i loved RE4 --im telling you --over the next 100 years --"the evil within" will stay in the top 25 horror survival game lists(and continued to be purchased and played) --whereas --games like ALL the games coming out this holiday season --will all be forgotten in time --its not the BEST --its just got that 'classic' thing --that makes a game 'hang around' over time --shadow of mordor is a goddamned joke --and destiny is this generation's Perfect Dark Zero --that game was ALL THE RAGE(in its day) --you probably havent ever even heard of it --and you surely dont remember the hype --but --yeah --the games coming out these days --the stuff is all SO GODDAMNED 'forgettable"
  • homestar99 - November 7, 2014 6:45 a.m.

I do actually know what Perfect Dark Zero is. It was the Xbox 360 sequel to the original Xbox's Perfect Dark. It was hyped up and the final product was a mediocre pile of shit pancakes. So yeah, that sounds a lot like Destiny. If you feel that The Evil Within will stay in the limelight of great Survival Horror than it might. I know Resident Evil 4 will. And while the games are forgettable, not every game can be Silent Hill 2 or Shadow of the Colossus. But time will tell. The Evil Within just wasn't the game that I and others wanted it to be. Unarmed, alone, and easily harmed. That's what I wanted. As it stands the game is alright. If anything I wish the protagonist would actually react while in gameplay. Maybe I'd feel more scared if my character wasn't cold silent with no emotion toward the horrific monstrosities before him.
