Bad Co 2 is clearly the best Battlefield game. Gamesradar continues to have my respect.

They Also got the best CoD right, They have my respect too, although I think Halo 3 was the best multiplayer game ever.

i'm tired of seeing comments like this when it is clear that black ops was the most revolutoinary of all the cods. you probably havent even played it and youre lookint through nostalgia goggles. fucking hell
  • Condor - June 26, 2012 8:26 p.m.

You really like nostalgia goggles don'tcha?
  • xx_CaPTiiN_SpAiiN_zz - June 27, 2012 1:05 p.m.

You love to wear them asshole
  • Condor - June 27, 2012 3:28 p.m.

Honestly, I do. But then that would make me a vet, which is a compliment, so thank you :D.You, unfortunately, are ignoring good game foundations making yourself look like an utter dumbass. Your 'change is good' argument doesn't really work with the CoD franchise very well.

we have already seen that call of duty is one of the best game foundations as it has been the biggest money making game set of all time. you obviously dont know what youre talking about and havent played all the games so i think I win here :D

I played Black Ops. I didn't like it. Most of my deaths were kill-streak based. I bet you haven't played half of the games on this list. The list isn't about making money, it's about overall experience. You're just one of those people that only play realistic shooters and nothing else. You should reflect on what it means to be the person that misses the point of the article.
  • winner2 - June 27, 2012 5:05 p.m.

I think you just proved my point
  • GeneralLeeStupid - June 27, 2012 5:39 p.m.

i personally think hl2 should have its spot though, it should be 2nd

I can't tell if you're being serious or not about LFD2. Of course you can't escape the special infected by button mashing. You're supposed to depend on your teammates. It's a teamwork centric game. If you're playing single player, the AI will almost always immediately save you from them, and on multiplayer obviously your problem can be solved by playing with friends who know what they're doing, or at least sticking close to them even if they don't.

Wow, this list just made me want to play BF: BC2, CoD4, TF2, and Tribes: Ascend all day. I think I'll do that until my eyes fall off. Oh, I would've loved to see the original Crysis and Resistance on this too. Oh well.
  • GrandTheftAuto - June 28, 2012 1:27 a.m.

xx CAPTAiiN ZZ 1337 or whatever, just.. stop.
  • c-c-c-combo breaker - June 28, 2012 5:23 a.m.

'The modern first-person shooter's massive popularity explosion can almost be entirely attributed to Call of Duty 4.' >Modern fps >MASSIVE popularity explosion >ALMOST entirely Learning to think before you comment is always the best idea.
  • c-c-c-combo breaker - June 28, 2012 5:26 a.m.

I wouldn't say there were any bad maps in CoD4. Even 'district' was far superior to the crap we're served in the newer games.
  • Greg_Gamer - June 28, 2012 10:54 a.m.

This list should be comprised of 1. Team Fortress 2, 2. Counter Strike, 3 to 10th = any other in any order, they don't matter.
  • ThundaGawd - June 28, 2012 10:25 p.m.

I honestly don't see why Blacklight's getting so much hate. As opposed to COD, it actually does something new with the competitive FPS genre (weapon building, new game modes, etc.) Tribes: Ascend was a major letdown for me, I was excited when I first heard about it and how they were incorporating the "skiing glitch" into the game as an actual mechanic, but when the game actually came out, I played it for a little bit less than a week, threw up in my mouth, and uninstalled it. It was a cool concept, but they put WAY too much emphasis on skiing to the point where it was near-impossible to actually hit anyone with a projectile weapon
  • fluteamahoot - June 29, 2012 12:38 p.m.

Gmod should have been on here... And Tribes still has some metagame stuff to work out before it went on this list
  • funkmasterflip - June 29, 2012 12:58 p.m.

Never say call of duty 4 is dumb. Its far better than MW3.
  • Glaice - June 29, 2012 2:13 p.m.

Why isn't Doom at #1, that game was the second of two shooters (other being Quake) that made the shooter genre kickstart.
  • Rub3z - June 29, 2012 10:08 p.m.

What would this list look like if single player were involved? I would vote for Serious Sam 3...

I am not at all surprised by this, but it makes me slightly sad to see that not even in the comments was Urban Terror mentioned. Granted it does not have the same massive multiplayer aspect of these others; if you want an online game with a crapload of other people playing, then those other games are far better. However, Urban Terror shines as an awesome game to get together with several of your friends and perhaps play online. In my experience too many players ruins the game, at least in urban terror, but around eight people is perfect. There is not a huge arsenal of weapons, no upgrade system, and the graphics are none too impressive, but it will work on any machine, essentially, it's absolutely free, and it adds a few interesting game mechanics I've never seen before in any other game. I'm not saying that this game should have made the list, but I think it deserves an honorable mention.

My response as well. Best objective based multiplayer, for my money, with a nice dose of customization. K2- match customization+ better balancing= K3.

Sorry you didn't meet the learning curve. You'll quickly learn that like Unreal Tournament games, it's all about precision shooting at high speeds. It's a difficult curve to overcome, especially in a MP environment, but it's incredibly rewarding when you start to learn how to predict your shots and hit your enemies. It's definitely not a matter of the controls being bad (See: Shadow of the Colossus) or the game just being broken (See: Modern Warfare 2 & 3). It's just a steep learning curve with projectile inheritance and other physics that can make it a bit... iffy at first. I would compare it to Day Z. For the first hour or two, you'll be lost, you'll rage, you'll die, but you'll pick yourself up, learn how to survive/kill, and continue to live another day.
  • tyler_14_420 - July 15, 2012 7:53 p.m.

It's just such a different game though. Halo 3 really captured the Multiplayer feel, and will forever be the classic halo experience to me. It's hard to express in words, but I've played hundreds of hours with my friends on both games, and the only advantage I can see Reach having is the superior map builder, which we have had a lot of fun with. :)
