Regenerating health? No, thank you. I'll just find some other game that will provide tension and excitement.

FACTUAL ERROR!!! The Eiffel Tower destruction is in Modern Warfare 3, Not Battlefield 3.

Yeah.... thanks for the spot, fixed.

Each battle area is a hub--almost like a small multiplayer arena--and the way you fight through is up to you. - Finally, that's what we want. Little sandbox battles like they had in BFBC2. And BFBC2 remains the only single player campaign I have completed more than 3 times because it was different every time. Agree, with the sound too; it's incredible. It was incredible in BF3. Particular highlight of the gun fire when they are in the building.

Heh. This all looks like stuff I've seen before. The fact that the sound design is very good is nothing new for DICE. The main thing that's defining next-gen isn't necessarily poly-counts, it's in newer and much more realistic effects like lighting that make our already-well-defined games seem to pop with substance. Also, they destroyed the Eiffel Tower in BF3? Wouldn't know since I never even touched the campaign... but I remember the same thing happened in MW3, lol

if they make the campaign mode anything like the bad company games', then i'm sold

Battlefield 3 was my first dip into the world of Battlefield but I wasn't overly impressed. However after seeing this I'm definitely willing to give it another try. I've hardly touched Black Ops 2 at all so I think I need something different after finally suffering from CoD fatigue. Just hope the single player campaign lives up to this trailer and fixes the terrible AI team mates and arbitrary pass/fail goals. I know BF isn't about single player at all but I still enjoy campaign modes nevertheless

Looks great, definitely going on my pre-order list for when the PS4 comes out. I'd get it on PC, but the PS4's more likely to be in my price range. Also, off-topic slightly, but is anyone else getting annoyed at all these goddamn Age of Wushu spambots?

Here we go... Dubstepfield 4. Hopefully this one wont completely suck balls like Battlefield 3 did. They might actually release a finished product this time.
  • shawksta - March 27, 2013 12:25 p.m.

Seems great, let's hope it'll be more like the older games while keeping the Multiplayer 3 had, it was still unique

Yes finally. No more in-rails campaigns of follow the leader and use this gun to kill that enemy over there. BF3 campaign was totally one-dimensional. Looking forward to some more sandbox style gaming. The most impressive tech for me? @15:20 the water splashing on windshield. Wow. Refraction and procedural wind physics moving water across the glass. Wow. Wow. Wow.

There's nothing wrong with linear gameplay. Everyone seems to be hopping on to sandbox features as the future of gaming, but you lose so much in that transition. There's enough solid sandbox games on the market right now. They should focus on character development and story before they take that bait after seeing how atrocious it was in BF3.
  • AlexStarkiller - March 27, 2013 2:38 p.m.

On-rails is very different than linear. A linear game is fine, but without choice, without being able to take on a situation how you want it, it is classified as "on-rails". And to me, and a lot of people, that's bad.

Same here, when I saw the individual droplets streaming up the windscreen from the downforce I nearly had a nerdgasm. Also agree on the comments about the campaign
  • Timstertimster - April 2, 2013 10:15 a.m.

That's right. Skyrim has a linear story line, but it's also open world, with sandbox style gameplay. Personally, I find there is too much concern over story line in general. I'd rather see more interesting gameplay options than fleshed out stories and characters, but of course I'll take both!
  • AlexStarkiller - April 2, 2013 5:30 p.m.

I'm... not the opposite, more of a counterpart to that. I love narrative and characters, even more than gameplay most of the time. Some of my favorite games this generation were Spec Ops and The Walking Dead [Telltale's version]. The former had mediocre gameplay, and the latter had very little, but the narrative in both were astounding. Back on topic, great gameplay can get me to overlook a shoddy story, but if Battlefield 4 plans to brings both to the table, I applaud the decision and effort, even should it fail.

Here we go again, just like with BF3. Everyone drooling over the demo running on fast PC and acting like that's what they're going to get with the console versions. Sorry, but the PS4 is about as powerful as a 2 year old PC, and it isn't even out yet. It will not look like that. More importantly, it will likely be capped at 30fps as well. I'm not saying you can't be excited, but let's be realistic here. I just can't wait for the upcoming GR review that takes marks away from the PC game because it looks like shit on the Xbox and you have to install some extra texture pack, like with the BF3 review. Damn that review was worth a laugh.

Here we go again, after months of absence, you return and the very first thing you comment on is the same song and dance about how consoles suck and PCs are Gods. How (un)surprising! Snark aside, congratulations about being a dad! Even with our differences and whatnot, that's always awesome news to hear ^^
