Battlefield 3: Twelve minutes of gameplay

Battlefield 3 is looking good. In fact, it’s looking so good that EA is continuing to let Battlefield 3’s gampelay footage doing the talking. The latest trailer features 12 minutes of gameplay footage and follows Staff Sgt. Black and his team of U.S. Marines through some of the more critical points in the singleplayer campaign.

The trailer also gives a good look at Battlefield 3’s ANT animation technology, which allows for more realistic movements of soldiers on the battlefield. Pay close attention to how Black uses an RPG to take down an enemy sniper and how the blast causes a huge building to crumble from the splash damage.

Above: No CG footage here. Battlefield 3’s gameplay footage continues to impress

Battlefield 3 is scheduled to release on November 2 for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. In the meantime, check out GamesRadar’s first-look preview for Battlefield 3 for more impressions.

The COD series will have to come up with quite a doozy to tackle what I am seeing here, graphics- wise. Still the gameplay itself does not impress me, the start-by-getting-out-of-the-van-and-go-to-the-place-where-the-battle-is-and-circle-the-battlefield-doing-chores is as old as Medal of Honor. Still visually speaking I am stunned. I think they have done a fantastic job with the shadows and not the texture itself, giving it a more artistic yet at the same time far more realistic quality. I just hope my pc can take the heat with the requirements that this baby will surely have.

I finally understand why the mission is called ''Fault Line''

So far the gameplay hasn't really blown me away, but the exposition of the Frostbite Engine 2 at work is what really got me excited. If I can do what that squad did to that sniper on any of the surrounding landscape/buildings, I'm in (although being a self proclaimed fanboy of the Battlefield series, I was in from the day it was announced). Also the inclusion of civilians, hearing the honking of horns and the torrent of what I'd guess were complaints from locals in the beginning... that really got me interested. If this game could pull off what the now canned Six Days in Fallujah wanted to do with civilians, I'd be in for that too (It's really cute how objective I'm trying to be).

Mind you, this is coming from a skeptic of this particular game's hype, but as I was watching this I zoned out at one point, forgot what I was watching, then when I focused on it again there was a moment where I thought it was news footage before I remembered what it was. TL;DR: We've arrived at the future.

If Battlefield 3's set pieces (like the collapsing building) remain stunning, there's no doubt it will be the best shooter to date when it releases

This game looks so good, I literally watched the video 3 times in a row. I cant wait. Finally a game that will wreck COD.

Every time I see this gameplay footage all I can think about is cloverfield.

The only other game I've played with that many "OH CRAP!" moments is Uncharted 2. This looks SWEET!

I like the fact that they don't overuse the explosions/action like COD. I haven't really enjoyed the last 2 COD games, It's like they were made for people with ADD. nice to see that BF3 has a good pace while still having plenty of action and realism.

@BadLadJon, this is game is in the pre-Alpha stage as it reads in the beginning of the video. It isn't even ready for consumers to test it. That being said, it will have errors in physics. The fact that it is still pre-alpha and looks this good is amazing.

Amazing, I'm just hoping that the console ports look as similar as this vid in terms of graphics and that they won't make a "one console is more visually superior" port.
