Sebastian Junger follows up his Oscar-nommed doc Restrepo with Battle Company: Korengal , a sequel that once again sees him embedded with US troops in Afghanistan.

Reuniting with the 2nd Platoon of Battle Company, he again joins them on a 15-month deployment in the Korengal Valley, the so-called “deadliest place on Earth”, where the Taliban traffic arms.

Working without his Restrepo co-director Tim Hetherington (tragically killed in Libya in 2011), Junger splices interviews with some visceral footage of life.

It’s absorbing to a point, but adds little to what’s gone before.
