The Bat is back in black & yellow in first trailer for The LEGO Batman Movie

This week, audiences will finally be able to watch Ben Affleck's Batman in action in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. It is easily the darkest and broodiest interpretation of the character yet, so if you're after something a little more kid-friendly - and fun - The LEGO Batman Movie could be just what the doctor ordered. The first trailer for the film just dropped online, and you can check it out below...

Batman was easily one of the standout characters in The LEGO Movie, and while taking a supporting character from an animated movie and giving them their own film doesn't always work - I've got my fingers crossed for Finding Dory later this year - that doesn't look like it's going to be the case here.

The trailer is light on plot - which will see Batman saving Gotham from Joker - but it's brimming with humour, imagination, irreverence, and most of all a sense of fun! In other words, this could be the Batman film we deserve, and the one we need right now.

Directed by Chris McKay and featuring the voices of Will Arnett, Zach Galifianakis, Rosario Dawson, Ralph Fiennes, Mariah Carey, The Lego Batman Movie opens in the UK and US on February 10, 2017.
