Cameron Diaz’s school-bound laugh riot
has attracted further talent in comedy stalwarts Jason Segel and John Michael Higgins.
The Hollywood Reporter announce that both are in talks to join the cast; Segel as a gym teacher and Higgins as Principal Wally Snur.
Written by Year One and Ghostbusters 3 scribes Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, the script centres on Elizabeth Halsey (Diaz). She’s a “foul-mouthed, conniving seventh grade teacher” who turns her gold-digging attention on a model teacher when her sugar daddy boyfriend dumps her.
But that teacher (yet to be cast) is already the boyfriend of colleague Amy Squirrel (Lucy Punch).
Filming kicks off next month in Los Angeles.
Diaz’s last big-screen 'comedy' was the painful What Happens In Vegas (which definitely should have stayed there), so it’s good to see she’s being backed up with some able-bodied comedy support. Jury’s still out on this one, though.
Bad Teacher + Jason Segel = good news?
