Atlus announces The Cursed Crusade. First screens and teaser inside

Atlus has just announced The Cursed Crusade, an action title for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. The production values look good and the game’s story sounds promising. Check out the first screenshots and teaser below.

Above: Early footage of The Cursed Crusade looks like a cross between The Witcher and Assassin’s Creed. We like what we’re seeing so far

Above: The first teaser for The Cursed Crusade

Set in medieval Europe, The Cursed Crusade follows the story of two cursed warriors fighting for their souls. "A story of salvation and survival, The Cursed Crusade brings to life the mystery and allure of the Middle Ages," says Aram Jabbari of Atlus USA.  "The game's main characters are not heroes; they're just men, susceptible to temptation, easily made to feel doubt and despair.  The raw, gritty accuracy of many of the game's historical locations is sharply contrasted by Denz and Esteban's supernatural struggle to save their souls.  Their affliction, the Templar's Curse, threatens to accelerate their descent into hell, burning their humanity away as it engulfs the space around them in demonic flame."

The Cursed Crusade is scheduled to release in Summer 2011. You can check out a few more screenshots here. In the meantime, we'll be waiting for an official announcement from Atlus about a North America release date for Catherine.

I like Atlus, they're good devs, but honestly...this looks like an AC ripoff.

Is this actually being developed by Atlus, or are they just the publishers like with Demon's Souls?

Awesome, can I consider this the followup to demon's souls? The combat seems about the same only that a bit more God of war-ish. Looks awesome though.

Meh. Thought it was Dragon Age 2 when I saw the screenshot. I'd rather they get to work on Snowboard Kids 3.

"Atlus" only localized Demons Souls. "From Software" made Demon's Souls.

^^ If you read the first sentence in the article you would know. "Atlus has just announced The Cursed Crusade, an action title for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC."

Atlus did a good job with Demon's Soul, so I'm thinking this has some potential. Anyone think they'll make it as tough as DS?

I am intrigued! The trailer is pretty gnarly. Good to see it will have local coop too. Can't wait.
