New screens for Assassin's Creed III have appeared on the web, depicting the Animus protagonist on the hunt for the most dangerous prey of all...deer? True, these are slightly less violent and assassin-like than Connor's PAX East shots (Assassin's Creed III – New screens leak out of PAX East), but they do speak well of the game's graphical prowess.

The images were posted by All Games Beta, and look very clear and staged for a supposed leak. Expect Ubisoft to release an official trailer bearing similar images and winterscapes in the near future.

Assassin's Creed III was recently pegged as the most highly anticipated PS3 game for 2012, and the second highest Xbox 360 title behind Halo 4, as determined by the Nielson folks in Here's what you're looking forward to: Nielsen ranks anticipation for the games of 2012. We'll have to wait until October 30 (October 31 in the UK) to see how well that anticipation translates into sales.

I just hope Ubisoft will quit with the annual AC releases. It's detrimental to the series, let us miss the game a little bit.

Climbing strength meter similar to Shadow of the Colossus. That could work.

inb4 the obnoxious capn grammer cracker troll comes in with his usual inane attacks to ACIII Also, I'm liking how the outdoors are looking... though is it me, or a lot of those trees looked a tad feeble for their branches to support the weight of a human? ...Actually, that makes me wonder, will it be possible to climb wrong branches that could snap and throw you down? Sounds unlikely, but it would certainly make climbing an actual challenge, and not just an automatic motion...

I like that idea about the branches breaking. That could be either fun or maddening
