@SausageLozenge, Films are tested for audiences and mass produced on dvd, so i guess they arent art either?

Can anyone see the name of the artist for the last image on page 2? I think it's Amy Sol (as it looks exactly like her work) but I'm not 100% sure; I think I see an artist's name but it's too small for me to read. I'm already a fan of her artwork and the image of Princess Peach/Toadstool is beautiful, so if it's actually created by her I would love it even more...

I would totally buy prints of the Shyguy and Metroid ones.

I bought the 1st 'IAM8BIT' book years ago; guess I'll be picking up this one eventually. That Samus + jellyfish Metroid are pretty wicked sweet.

Ah wow some of these are amazing, maybe video game company's could hire these artists to design their box art, then we might see something other than 'protagonist pulls gritty pose over dark/moody background'

All of these peices are nice, but the Contra on had me at "Your One Ugly Mudda Fucka!"

That painting with the jellyfish and the girl is beautiful!!! And if you ask me; games are entertainment, for the people who want it to be art... those three letters can be found in the word entertainment. It's a win win!!

I will be buying that book posthaste.

Games are more like toys to me not art. You play a game just like you play with an action figure. Sure there are artistic elements in games, but there is something to be said about the mass production of games. Games are focus tested for mass appeal, art isn't focus tested. I'm the minority in this on a gaming website. I enjoy this art based on video games though. : )

I actually had a warm smile for the Shyguy picnic :)

Man, some of those are really awesome, I love the Toon Link/Ganondorf one, and the first Megaman looks almost like it should be the post for one of those gritty film remakes of games
