Warners in negotiations to acquire rights for the long-running manga/anime about a boy who fights evil spirits

Warner Bros is the process of securing the rights to the manga and anime series Bleach for a live action Hollywood makeover according to The Hollywood Reporter ’s Heat Vision Blog . Get Smart and 50 First Dates director Peter Segal is in negotiations to produce (though not direct) the story of a teenage boy who becomes a Soul Reaper, a member of an order that escorts the souls of the dead. The manga, written and drawn by Tite Kubo, has been going in in Japan since 2001 and has spawned an anime TV series, anime films and even a musical.
