European indie studio Lexis Numérique has announced a release date for Amy, the survival-horror thriller whose sleeper campaign has been building for some months now. Offering a psychological twist on the biohazards-'n'-undeads formula, the title comes with the pedigree of French games legend Paul Cuisset – the veteran designer responsible for Space Harrier, Operation Wolf, Flashback: The Quest for Identity, and, um, Shaq Fu.

Come January 11, you'll be able to try Amy against Cuisset's past efforts for yourself, when the game debuts on PSN for $12.99 and XBLA for 800 MSP ($10). Yes, for some reason the PlayStation 3 version costs $3 more. No. We have no idea why. It might be a typo or a mistake, but that's what the game's official Facebook page says.

Here's a few new shots of the game's enemies, infected with an extraterrestrial virus and left to maraud a world ravaged by Global Warming. An Inconvenient Truth never warned us about this sort of thing.

Is this the game in which the protagonist can be infected herself and roam around in that state? I saw a preview of it here a while back. I hope it's good, it has a reasonable price at least...

It is, although you don't actually play as a zombie as far as I can tell. You can allow the infection to bring you to the point of near death so as to blend in with zombies, but if you actually allow it to progress too far, you die and then become undead (but i don't think you can actually play as a zombie)

    Zombies, zombies everywhere.

Only 800 points? That can't be right.. Everything that looks amazing and interesting is generally 1200, although not to say that there aren't quality 800 point games.

This looks genuinely interesting and at only 800mps it'll be tough to pass up. That is unless the game is extremely short or pure garbage.

Probably MS couldn't get timed exclusivity so they lobbied for a lower price point.

This game looks pretty intriguing. I'm hoping that this and I Am Alive both provide unique experiences that aren't really commercially viable for a full-fledged release. I will be disappointed if they both just feel like budget versions of retail games.
