Stranger Things season 2 reveals a big conspiracy the only way it knows how: with a terrible ‘80s slideshow

Stranger Things season 2 is going to be delightfully ‘80s – for better or worse. Don’t believe me? Check out this nostalgia-filled promo highlighting the situation we find ourselves in as we go for a second helping of hellish goings-on in Hawkins, Indiana.

Conspiracies are abound in the promo, which you can see above. Focusing on Will Byers’ disappearance and re-emergence, it’s a perfect gateway for fans who don’t have time to rewatch the first season, as well as a taster of the world of 1984. There’s even a section complete with Gremlins, Ghostbusters and Terminators. What a time to be alive. If you ignore all the Barb-killing creatures, that is.

But it’s not a slideshow without a few mishaps now, is it? Proving slide errors aren’t just the realm of overworked teachers, the Stranger Things presentation has a few upside-down slides (get it?) to give the impression that someone – or something – is working in the shadows.

If that doesn’t give you chills, the shot of New Coke definitely will. Not only that, the emphasis on otherworldly influences definitely makes me think we’ll be diving deep into what lies beyond this year on Stranger Things. Of course, it’s never quite as good when the mystery is unravelled so let’s hope they take their sweet time getting there.

Stranger Things also has a free-to-play game out now, so definitely check that out, as well as photos from the new season giving us a glimpse at the show’s new characters.
