Following 2010 collaboration Separado! , director Dylan Goch rejoins Super Furry Animals frontman Gruff Rhys on another self-proclaimed Investigative Concert Tour, an endearing patchwork of genealogy, travelogue and rockumentary.
The singer gigs across the USA, retracing the route traced by his 18th Century ancestor John Evans in search of a tribe of Welsh-speaking native Americans. As Gruff regales audiences with presentations and acoustic ballads, there’s a risk of whimsy overload.
Yet it’s impossible not to warm to Gruff’s passion for uncharted corners of Welsh culture.
