Amber Heard confirmed to play Aquaman's Queen Mera in the Justice League movies

The cast for Warner Bros and DC's Justice League keeps getting better. We recently got word that J.K. Simmons will be Commissioner Gordon in DC's movie universe, and now we have confirmation that Amber Heard will rule Atlantis alongside Jason Mamoa's Aquaman as Queen Mera.

The news comes two months after this rumour first started making the rounds, and while chatting to Entertainment Tonight about her upcoming film The Adderall Diaries Heard revealed that she has already tried the costume on; "Yeah, yeah I have. It’s… interesting [laughs]. I’m wearing, um… it’s like, half suit of armor, half scales. I don’t know, it’s strange. But we’re in the process of building it now, so it’s coming along."

We may have already been given a little glimpse at Mera's get-up in the behind-the-scenes photo Zack Snyder posted last month, but with filming on Justice League set to begin in April we may get something a little more substantial relatively soon. As for Queen Mera's other half, we don't have to wait long to see him on screen - Aquaman will be making a cameo in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which is released next week.

Directed by Zack Snyder and starring Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jason Mamoa, J.K. Simmons, Amber Heard, Ezra Miller, and Ray Fisher, Justice League: Part 1 is currently scheduled for a November 17, 2017 release.
