  • Youtube is a bottomless well of time wasting nonsense, isn’t it? And we’ve had some good times with the site, plus we’re suckers for anyone playing Mario music on anything, most recently in the form of an excellent beatbox version of the famous theme. So obviously, we had to share this with you the moment we found it...

  • Madden, Mafia II, Mario: US sales in August were dominated by the letter M. NPD group, the foremost collective when it comes to US gaming fiscal news and starting forum wars, released their list of console and games retail data...

  • Guinness World Records has released the results of its online poll asking gamers to decide who the all-time greatest game characters are. More than 13,000 people participated in the vote on Guinness's official website and it looks like nostalgia stole the show, with only two post-2000 characters making the top 10. Halo's Master Chief, who originally debuted in 2001, took the number three spot, while Kratos from God of War, first seen in 2005, placed ninth...

  • Super Mario Bros for the NES/Famicom turned 25 today, and that’s quite an anniversary for arguably the most well known game in the world. Though it wasn’t Mario’s first appearance – that was as Jumpman in Donkey Kong (1981) – SMB is still the biggest moment in the humble plumber’s life and a touchstone for an entire generation of players. And to celebrate this occasion, Nintendo has opened up a special site for Mario’s super quarter-centennial...

  • Five new screens from EA's NHL 07 came skating up to us today, so we figured we'd share them with you. Featured in these screens are some of professional hockey's brightest stars including dangling Detroit Red Wing Pavel Datsyuk and out of control scoring machine Alex Ovechkin from the Washington Capitals. Even if you're not a huge hockey fan, you still need to check out these screens because they're ridiculously detailed with surgically precise shadowing and absurdly accurate player
  • When a new EA Sports title launches, it's usually one of the biggest games to hit that month, if not the entire year. So it's a little strange to us that all there is to show of NHL 07 are three screens and a brief trailer showcasing Moscow-born Alexander Ovechkin murderatin' fools on the ice. Regardless, we've got them ready for your prying eyes. Hit up the images tab for screens and then skate over to the movies icon for all the Ovechkin you can take. June 27,
  • EA Sports dropped dual videos on us today featuring more puck play from NHL 07. Each teaser focuses on a team, either the St. Louis Blues or the Florida Panthers, and you can clearly make out #12 Olli Jokinen in the Florida video. Whether or not you'll be able to bury the business end of your hockey stick in an opponent's neck remains to be seen, but watch the videos (by clicking on the movies tab above) and decide for yourself if anything qualifies as High sticking. • September 7, 2007 Sadly for gamers with Xbox 360 and PS3 shooter The Club on their Christmas lists, the game has slipped to early 2008, Sega confirmed today. We must admit, when we last saw the game in action it didn't look very near to completion (although that was a few months ago). Still, 2007 is already looking like having the most expensive tail-end of any year ever with so many great games coming out, so this will at least give us a chance to fill our pockets again before The Club opens
