A new poster for the final episode of The Boys has arrived... and it's got fans (me) thinking a bit more positively about what's to come in the series finale.

The poster sees Butcher walking up to the White House, while Homelander and dozens of Supes are flying overhead. This is a recreation of a panel from The Boys issue #65 titled, 'Over The Hill With The Swords Of A Thousand Men.' In the panel, Butcher is walking up to the White House, with Supes (sans Homelander) flying overhead, and saying, "He ain't gonna find no fuckin' superhero waitin. He gonna be up against some other shit altogether." It's in this very issue that Homelander and Butcher face off for the last time... but it's not Butcher who puts an end to Homelander's reign of terror. You can check out the side-by-side comparison below.

The final poster for ‘THE BOYS’ pays homage to the original comic series. The series finale airs this Wednesday on Prime Video. pic.twitter.com/xlXfX967LDMay 15, 2026

While we've done our own speculation as to who we think will kill Homelander, it would make sense, in the context of the show, for Butcher to be the one to do it. However, in the comics, it's Black Noir who puts an end to Homelander in an epic plot twist that reveals that the mute Supe is far more powerful than we thought. You might remember that we're on our second iteration of Black Noir in the show, and that he's not the same one that Homelander already killed in an earlier season. The new Black Noir is a Vought-hired actor... though he could very well have a plot twist of his own.

The Boys season 5 finale drops next week on Prime Video.
Subnautica 2 creative development lead Anthony Gallegos knows some people are pirating the underwater survival game sequel, which developer Unknown Worlds trudged through mucky legal swamps for a year to finally release in early access May 14, and it pains him. He'd feel better if they just bought it and returned it.

Gallegos writes in a launch day message to the Subnautica Discord, that soon also spread throughout the game's subreddit, that he knows "pirates are gonna do their thing," but "I would much rather people buy the game, try it for an hour, and return it than go play it illicitly."

Or, if a person happened to have already grabbed that incomplete Subnautica 2 dev build that leaked a day before its official early access launch, they should at least consider not tattling on themselves and telling Gallegos about it.

As spotted by RespawnFirst, one such pirate didn't get the hint and requested tech support ahead of Subnautica 2's official release. Gallegos, understandably, replied bitterly, "Thanks for pirating a game that I've spent years working on," and "I hope you rethink your life choices."

"You gotta be a true idiot to come into an official server and ask for help," he added. Anyway.

(Image credit: Unknown Worlds / Krafton)

Subnautica 2 is now available above-board on Steam, Xbox, and the Epic Games store for $29.99 – Gallegos even advertises this in his Discord display name: "Anthony - $29.99 is the price." Though, the developer also acknowledges in his May 14 Discord message, if you haven't already noticed for yourself, that "money and the economy is very hard.
Something bloody, damp, and decidedly retro has been darkening the doorsteps of card game sickos for a few weeks now. Forbidden Solitaire, a "card-slashing horror game" anchored to "the contents of a cryptic 1995 CD-ROM" launched on Steam (and GOG and Itch) on April 30, and has had such a profound effect on humanity's collective consciousness that it's already crossed 1,100 overwhelmingly positive Steam reviews, much to the surprise of Jake Birkett, owner of co-developer Grey Alien Games.

Forbidden Solitaire is currently sitting at 1,104 Steam user reviews averaging 96% positive, putting it in the upper echelons of the entire year according to Steam250. It first crossed the overwhelmingly positive milestone just three days after launch.

"It took TEN YEARS for us to get this for Regency Solitaire!" Birkett says on Bluesky, referring to Grey Alien Games' original card game twist, released in 2015 and likewise sitting pretty at 96% positive.

On May 2, Forbidden Solitaire crossed 10,000 copies sold. SteamDB ownership estimates put it north of double that nowadays.

"What is even happening right now?" Birkett adds in a separate post. "1000+ reviews, overwhelmingly positive. Thanks everyone!"

The easiest way to describe this game is this: if you liked Inscryption, you will like Forbidden Solitaire. It plays a fair bit differently thanks to its solitaire influence, but it hits the same portion of the human brain, which is reserved exclusively for gritty, madcap card games. Next to it, as any student of medicine will tell you, is the strategy RPG lobe, which has recently been observed firing during Pokemon Nuzlocke runs.

Failing that, if you've ever played solitaire but thought to yourself, "This would be so much better if I could purchase magic gems and embed them in my flesh to cheat at cards between FMV segments," you've found the right game. We were pretty smitten with it all the way back in Steam Next Fest.

Since launch, the devs have kept updates coming, most recently adding a New Game+ system in response to rampant demand. "You can now replay any level, and adjust various parameters to create your own challenges," the devs explain.

Solo dev stunned as his "first ever video game" sells 100,000 copies in 5 days on Steam while 97% "overwhelmingly positive" reviews pour in.

Amid all of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33's many well-deserved accolades, there's one thing even the game's most ardent fans are willing to complain about: the minigames. They're awkward to control, and players have been griping about their difficulty from the very start. Director Guillaume Broche has heard your complaints, and has some feedback of his own. You just need to get good, kid.

Broche was on hand earlier this month for the charity speedrun showcase Speedons in Lyon – sort of a French Games Done Quick. He served as a commentator for the Expedition 33 run at the show, and took the controller himself when it came time to complete the infamous volleyball minigame, as you can see in the video below.

He promised that he was "gonna play the game, and at the same time, prove that the game is really very, very easy, and it's a pure skill issue," as translated by GamesRadar+. Broche made good on that promise, too – mostly. He did beat the toughest opponent without much trouble, but he couldn't quite do it without taking a hit.

Also, fun fact: apparently French players just say "skill issue" in English when they're discussing the concept. This is your contribution to global culture, gamers.

In any case, Broche was clearly being a bit facetious about the whole thing, but it's equally clear that he believes the awkward challenge of these minigames is a feature, not a bug. Back around the game's launch, Broche revealed that he "personally insisted" on including the minigames, inspired by similar challenges in Final Fantasy 10. Hey, they're all very beatable – you just need to play better.

These are the best turn-based RPGs to play today.

Cheo Hodari Coker, creator of Netflix's Luke Cage TV show, says The Punisher: One Last Kill suffers from its short runtime.

"The problem with One Last Kill is it's too short," Coker wrote on Twitter. "That's who Frank Castle is. No mercy. Very much like the comics. It needed more space to breathe. But Bernthal is the best Punisher by far and RMG did a great job directing. About to watch it again."

The Punisher: One Last Kill, directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green and co-written by Jon Bernthal, follows a PTSD-stricken Frank Castle who has all but completely lost touch with reality. But things get pretty real after he crosses paths with Ma Gnucci (the incredible Judith Light), who is there to take revenge after the Punisher killed her family (though it's the Gnuccis who were responsible for the death of Frank's wife and children in the first place).

The special has a runtime of around 48 minutes, and the action doesn't really begin until around 30 minutes in. The first 30 minutes set up the absolutely desolate area that Frank lives in, his hallucinations, his immense guilt over being unable to protect his family, and introduce main villain Ma Gnucci. Truthfully, it could've benefited from being broken up into a four-episode miniseries of sorts, rather than cramming Frank's return to vigilantism into 45 minutes... but I digress.

The Punisher: One Last Kill is now streaming on Disney Plus. It's not an easy or fun watch (and includes the phone numbers for some helpful support hotlines at the end), so discretion is advised!

A new PS5 Welcome Hub widget currently in beta testing reveals top and trending games by region, bringing a new layer of Steam-like player analytics to the notoriously opaque console space.

YouTuber Mystic flagged the PS5 widget in a recent video, showing several examples of details shared with beta program participants (per Radec). Two settings are available: one shows the top 10 most popular PS5 games of the week, and the other shows games that are "trending now," selected based on "which games and modes are surging in popularity right now." Both settings use country-specific data rather than global stats, expanding on the "top games in your country" banner already in the PlayStation Store.

This beta widget notably includes player count figures, albeit only weekly. Fortnite had "14.6m players this week," according to one example shown. Some other examples get into two-digit decimals. (I wouldn't read too much into the exact numbers here, as the whole thing screams early beta.)

Unsurprisingly, Fortnite and other online giants like GTA Online, Minecraft, and Marvel Rivals fill out this particular top 10. The immovable nature of live service games means that won't change very much between regions or between weeks, making for a pretty static feed.

Assuming it's out in the wild or at least still visible in beta, this widget could provide some interesting first-hand data on the GTA 6 launch, as the game's expected to be heavily PS5-leaning due to the makeup of the console audience today (not to mention Sony's alleged marketing deal with Rockstar).

The trending widget is more interesting, as it brings a smidgen more algorithmic promotion and topicality to PS5. It also more closely mirrors the feeds and stats orbiting Steam, handily the best store for game visibility. PlayStation doesn't seem keen to release the granular details that filter through tools like SteamDB or Steam Charts, but any additional insight or visibility for trending PS5 games is welcome.

One trending example shows a "249% surge in gameplay hours" for Company of Heroes 3. Overwatch saw a "255% surge in matches" following its season drop, the widget adds. And so on.

"I give the 3rd party pubs about 5 minutes after seeing this before they start sending emails demanding the user numbers get pulled," joked analyst Mat Piscatella, games director at firm Circana.

There's theoretically space for newly launched games, not just freshly updated games, to elbow their way into this trending feed, which could give devs behind recent hits – especially games that originally pop off in certain regions – another means of reaching players. Centering it in the PS5 welcome hub, which is generally the first thing you see when you boot up the console in its normal state, could actually give the hub some more use. That said, it will come down to where Sony sets the bar for trending and how much space is left behind once the expected big releases get a turn.

(Image credit: Flying Oak Games / E-Studio)

This looks like a small addition, and it's still only in beta, but discovering new games has been a weakness of console storefronts for years, so any attempts at improving that experience are welcome. I don't know if it's more of a UX or information problem, but a proper, agile "New & Trending" banner is exactly what I've wanted for ages.

A cursory look at the PlayStation Store on my PS5 reinforces that there's still plenty of room for improvement. Because I played Saros, Returnal maker Housemarque's latest third-person bullet hell shooter, Sony tells me I should try... Metroidvania darling Axiom Verge and retro survival horror game Signalis. Great games, all, don't get me wrong, but it's certainly an eclectic bunch. There's no question that I get more pragmatic suggestions from Steam, which also makes it a lot easier to see at a glance what's popular right now and what stands out in recent releases. That openness and variety is a deeper part of PC gaming, and is easier to show with a mouse and monitor, but it could benefit console gamers too.

I've seen this time and again in my years monitoring new releases, and I've heard much the same from developers on the other side of the fence who are weighing up the value of a console port. Building more of this kind of information into the PS5 hub and store could help make the console more practical for players and more appealing for indies, ideally resulting in a better selection of games.

That's a lot to pin on this one little beta widget, but the direction, at least, is encouraging. And credit where it's due: I was just now able to brute-force a rabbit hole of PlayStation Store recommendations that eventually led me to ScourgeBringer (pictured above), a 2022 release that I'm actually happy to discover (and which has 12x more reviews on Steam).

You can sign up for the PlayStation beta program for free if you're interested in sampling features like this.

GTA 6 pre-orders start in a matter of days according to Best Buy affiliate email that reportedly spills the beans early.

One of your biggest breaks could come from the most unexpected of places. As is the case of a tenured developer at BioWare, who found himself leading the development of successful MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic despite disliking the genre wholesale.

For a number years, James Ohlen was a prominent designer at BioWare, working on the likes of Baldur's Gate, Dragon Age: Origins, Mass Effect, and the first Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Then, he had a fateful meeting with studio co-founders Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk about venturing further into a galaxy far, far away, and directing The Old Republic in Austin.

"And I was like, 'I hate massive multiplayer games. But all right, I'll do it,'" Ohlen explains to PCGamer. "It took me a day, I talked to my wife and said, 'It'll be an adventure, we'll only be there for a year.' I'm still here. Maybe I should have known better."

The project was on a scale different to what Ohlen was used to, to say the least. Though exact figures are uncertain, reports place The Old Republic's overall budget at over $200 million, making it one of the priciest games ever made.

Ohlen describes his role on the game as something of a cat wrangler who had to guide the "big ego designers" and make sure they "didn't kill each other." In 2018, seven years after the MMO from a long, long time ago launched, he departed BioWare. By the end, Ohlen says, he was just absorbing a nice salary, describing himself as a "highly paid, completely useless person."

Star Wars: The Old Republic is still running, though now it's supported by Broadsword Online Games. Ohlen was recently working on upcoming sci-fi RPG Exodus at Archetype Entertainment before stepping away from the team in late 2025.

Mass Effect hasn't been great in "a long time," but "D&D in space" RPG Exodus can fill the gap according to Hasbro's CEO.

Following a legal battle against Blizzard itself, the lights are being totally switched off on the custom homestead, prompting players to host their own special goodbye as they await the end.

If you're unaware, Turtle WoW is a collection of custom servers for World of Warcraft that host an old-school version of the beloved MMORPG. The idea is, or was, to provide a way for people to continue playing WoW as if it never evolved much beyond its early years. That means less cosmic battles and grandiose ideas, more fantastical questing. The version is dubbed 'Vanilla+', and the whole platform is a hotbed for modified approaches to Azeroth.

A fan-made expansion eventually emerged, Mysteries of Azeroth, that delved deeper into the mythology through this lens. But after eight years, the whole venture is closing down after Blizzard managed to serve a cease-and-desist order to the group behind it.

"Working on Turtle WoW has been the highlight of our lives," Torta, a member of the Turtle WoW team, says in a forum post. "It has been an honor to build with you and for you. Whether you were exploring new stories, leveling, raiding, PvPing, roleplaying, or just enjoying a quiet moment in the world, seeing how much this game means to you has been our greatest privilege."

This spectre has been looming for some time. There was a legal tussle for the server's existence, and an open letter to Blizzard sits on the Turtle WoW homepage. "Unlike other studios, Blizzard does not yet have a framework that allows projects like ours to operate without risking legal conflict," the team wrote. "With that in mind, we respectfully ask that Blizzard consider establishing a formal ecosystem for licensing fan‑run community servers."

Several points are raised, including how popular games such as GTA 5 and Skyrim have vastly expanded their fanbase thanks to mods. Turtle WoW had a thriving fanbase, and many of them will probably hang around in the game, but this is the kind of thing that pushes players away. Never underestimate the damage resentment can do.

The YouTuber Pespline uploaded a clip of Turtle WoW diehards huddling together on a riverbank for the end of days. Honestly, it's enough to bring a lump to your throat. Godspeed, one and all - I hope you all find each other elsewhere.

World of Warcraft streamers attend top-secret Blizzard event, leaving fans hoping for the version of the MMO they've tried to manifest for years

Forza Horizon 6 will launch in full May 19 after enjoying its currently ongoing early access period, and then everyone will be able to crash through its idyllic Japan setting like Godzilla in a Ferrari. The racing game lets you crumble nearly everything under your tires, but no matter how hard you hit the gas, the fluffy cherry blossoms will remain pristine. Developer Playground Games decided they were too important to destroy.

As design director Torben Ellert tells The Japan Times in a new interview, Playground wanted to respect Forza fans' highly requested Japan environment by recognizing the cultural sacredness of shrines and sakura, or cherry blossoms, the country's unofficial national flower. While the tissue-paper fragility of sakura is part of what makes them so special in Japan, which treats the spring blooms as a symbol of both renewal and impermanence (and a great photo opportunity), Playground was simply not going to let you wreck their trees with a truck.

Ellert says, "Almost all trees in the game are smashable to ensure that traversing the world map is both fun and rewarding," since you can earn experience points through destruction. But "several tree types are not – for example, the cherry blossom trees – because they're an iconic element of Japanese culture." Playground also decided to protect "certain temples or other cultural elements" like shrines, according to Ellert.

In terms of gameplay, this poses no problem. If anything, our four-out-of-five Forza Horizon 6 review is more conflicted about how the game handles everything that is breakable. Like the past few Forza entries, a lot of Forza Japan reacts as if it were built from bags of flour, and even other cars feel like they disintegrate during collisions. Writer Justin Towell says, "by this sixth entry, I can't help but feel the flimsiness is hurting the game. Even at low speed in a Mini Cooper, 90% of the trees here are no barrier at all." But not the sakura trees!

Instead, their blossoms react calmly to your blustery horsepower, shaking down gently from thin branches and topping your car like powdered sugar. Driving over a blossom-covered path stirs up the pink petals and sends them fluttering in every direction, so Forza Horizon 6 at least values realism in this way – the pretty way.

Forza Horizon 6's Metacritic score sends it speeding past Pokemon Pokopia and Resident Evil Requiem to become 2026's best-rated game of the year.

As the wait for new games from Bethesda Game Studios like The Elder Scrolls 6 continues, talented fans of older RPGs like Fallout 4 are figuring out ways to, erm, make Skyrim run in them…? Yeah, you know what, that checks out.

In case you missed it – because there's a pretty big chance you have, as it's incredibly random – a Fallout 4 player known as "RPGKING" on YouTube has managed to play Skyrim in the 2015 post-apocalyptic gem after somehow getting it to run… albeit admittedly with "a few bugs definitely to work out" before releasing it as a mod to the public.

"Obviously, this won't be available" until everything is fixed, he notes in his aptly-dubbed "Beat Todd to it" video.

It's amusing to watch – I mean, how could Skyrim running on a Pip-Boy in Fallout 4 not be? The iconic "hey, you" opening scene in static-y black and white is truly a sight to behold, and even the mouse and movement controls seem to work.

It's still in rough shape for now, however, with "some lag to fix" and other issues, but RPGKING reports that "everything else works perfectly." Here's hoping it does, because I can't wait to see it up for download.

Although hilariously enough, the creator concludes his video saying he's "pretty happy with this" – only to then admit it "looks like I've got a lot of bugs to flush out still."

Regardless, fans (it's me, I'm fans) can't get enough of the chaotic idea as a whole, with folks unsurprisingly blaming the lengthy wait between Skyrim and The Elder Scrolls 6 for such Frankenstein-y mods. "This is what 15 years without a sequel does to a fanbase," one comment reads.

Another jokes, "It's a Bethesda game within a Bethesda game; I imagine bugs will be part of the experience every step of the way." My favorite reply of all, though, jests, "It's what Todd Howard would've wanted." It might just be, anon.
Is the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy actually an alt-universe sequel series? Where/when the hell is Zack Fairs? What are those shadowy Whispers doing? Will Cloud end up with Barret after all? The trilogy's director, Naoki Hamaguchi, doesn't intend to answer fans' biggest theories because that would only spoil the fun, he says.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake and its sequel, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, are pretty liberal reimaginings of the original game. They loosely follow the contours of 1997's classic, but there are so many changes chucked in that calling them straight remakes is a little tough. Heck, Rebirth even introduces diverging timelines into the mix and practically invites fans to start scribbling on their walls like the Charlie Day meme.

But Hamaguchi was actually surprised at how deeply fans jumped into various rabbit holes, he says in an interview with Nintenderos, per machine translations. Still, he doesn't want to start ticking off certain theories because "the moment we start doing that, the story ceases to be an experience to be received and becomes a search for the 'right answer.'"

When approaching the still-ongoing Remake trilogy, Hamaguchi explains the team wanted to modernize the original story but also leave enough room for players to continue interpreting everything for themselves. Even turning Final Fantasy 7 into a three-part series played into this idea since Hamaguchi bet on fans engaging with its big story twists in between games.

"The fact that this has generated so much discussion among fans is, to me, a clear sign that this design is working as we intended," he says.

Hamaguchi's silence is understandable. The trilogy raises lots of interesting meta questions about the nature of remakes, returning to something as iconic as Final Fantasy 7, and struggling against ones' fate. But those juicy thematic discussions often get eclipsed online by debates around what's really happening.

Asked more specifically about those sequel theories in an interview with Inverse two years ago, Hamaguchi played coy. "The original title is a work that has a ton of fans, and a very well-known storyline," he said. "When you're implementing small changes along the way, I do believe that this evokes a sense of anxiety, in a good way... As for how it will play out, of course, we want players to see for themselves. As far as the reactions that we're getting, it's as we expected, and we're happy to hear that."

All right, then, keep your secrets. Maybe we just need to wait for the trilogy's finale before getting any concrete answers, which shouldn't be too long from now as Hamaguchi's played through Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 about 40 times now.

After the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy is done, its director wants to expand the long-running JRPG series for a whole new generation

Unknown Worlds has released a roadmap for Subnautica 2 now that the game is officially out in early access.

In a post to its website, the developer shares a Subnautica 2 roadmap detailing what's going to be coming to the game – getting into specifics for the first two updates and then a general list of things for the great beyond. The next update for the game, labelled EA 1.1, is set to focus on quality-of-life improvements for the game, with changes set to come to the likes of biomods, blight encounters, and vehicle docking and fabrication, with the update also set to include more passive biomod slots, storage cache, and a sprint function.

Meanwhile, EA 1.2 is set to focus on co-op with voice chat, emotes, trading, and a revive function set to be added to the game alongside improvements to the base-building tool and pinned recipes system. Otherwise, the future segment promises a bigger world and additions to pretty much everything in the game, with new tools, vehicles, an expanded world, and more story content. Unknown Worlds doesn't give a specific timeframe for when these updates will be released, but at the very least, we know what the first updates will be.

The post also includes a note to players, saying: "Updates will vary from focused improvements that address systems and smaller features, to hot fixes when needed, and then our larger expansions. So, as we build towards the next big drop that expands on the world, biomes, creatures, resources, tools, vehicles, and brings you the next chapter of the story, we'll be planning on adding several improvement updates in the meantime!"

And while the developer went to the trouble of making up a fancy graphic for these changes, it notes: "This roadmap is subject to change or adjustment. We want to hear from you, our community, on what we should be looking at while we develop Subnautica 2. Community input is key to shaping the game throughout Early Access!"

But these planned updates aren't the only updates the game will get, as the Unknown Worlds says "of course, we will continue to roll out bug fixes, balance tuning, optimizations, and other related updates throughout Early Access. We'll be monitoring your feedback very closely to help guide those ongoing improvements."

"I hope you rethink your life choices": Subnautica 2 dev responds to pirate asking for tech support on leaked build.

Valve is once again in the limelight thanks to its generosity – a generosity I know very well as a Steam sale frequenter myself – after apparently granting a fan any free "standard-edition" game of their choice due to a misdelivery.

It's been a pretty positive week for Valve, judging by the reception its new Steam update has received and big launches on its storefront like the long-awaited Subnautica 2 release – and it's also seemingly been a good week for users, too… even those who didn't get their orders from Steam, amusingly enough.

As one person reports on Reddit, they ordered a neat Steam Controller only for it to never arrive. So, what's good about that?

Well, Steam Support's response to the user in question is. "We're very sorry for the issue with your shipment," it reads. "The carrier has informed us that a small number of packages were mistakenly routed to the UK. They are actively working to redirect your shipment to the shipping address you provided. To thank you for your patience, we would like to offer to add a game to your library."

Yes, that's right – Steam apparently offered them a game.

Average valve W from r/SteamController

Any game, too – albeit not some super expensive ultra mega edition, of course. "Please pick any standard-edition title available for purchase in your region and reply here with your selection," Steam's message concludes.

That's a pretty solid deal, if you ask me, and it means that the Redditor would get both their controller (eventually) as well as a fresh game to play. You might be wondering – as is every commenter – what game they'd like.

Well, according to the user, they "got the new Forza game." In other words, Forza Horizon 6, which is a nice choice. I mean, our own Forza Horizon 6 review describes it as "sublime," and it appears other folks think it was a brilliant option as well – the upvotes speak for themselves, after all.

Although, if I'm honest, I'd have probably gone for something like Final Fantasy 7 Remake myself… not just because it's, erm, expensive, either.

Obviously, there's no confirmation from Steam or Valve that this story is true, anyway, but I'd argue there's a very good chance it is. The poster does include a screenshot of the interaction, and it feels silly to fake – plus, I'm a fan of the positive vibes.

The Steam Controller doesn't just scream for its life, it will also sing its little haptic heart out

I'm lucky enough to spend a lot of my time testing, writing about, and reviewing Warhammer, but it isn't often that I fall completely head over heels for a product. Yet that's exactly what happened with City of Ash, a beginner box set for the fantasy-based Age of Sigmar wargame. The trouble was, everyone else seemed to appreciate how great it was too; it sold out almost instantly, and hasn't been available since. Well, until now...

This isn't a drill; City of Ash is back in stock for $220 at Amazon. While that's full price rather than the discounted cost often seen at third party retailers, it's quite literally the only stock I've seen short of hopping on eBay.

I've been keeping an eye on City of Ash stock since it launched, and you'd be lucky to find it available anywhere else. In fact, this is the first time I've seen hide or hair of it since pre-orders went live a couple of weeks ago. That means I don't expect it to last, so move fast if you're interested.

UK price: £156.79 at AmazonView Deal

As noted in our City of Ash review, this is by far the easiest route into the shorter, more streamlined Spearhead game type - and from there, Age of Sigmar itself. It literally provides everything you need to play other than dice; there are two full armies (Cities of Sigmar and assassin-like Skaven), terrain, a board, seasonal cards to provide twists in each battle, and the full Spearhead rules. I think that's a big part of the reason why it's proven so popular. It's a complete introduction to the game in one place, and those armies can easily form the backbone of a larger AoS force.

We can't overlook the fact that the models themselves are sick as hell, either. The Cities of Sigmar half is evocative of the wonderfully bizarre old Empire faction from Warhammer Fantasy Battles. The Skaven, on the other hand, revitalize a beloved Skaven faction of assassins called Clan Eshin - and they do a bloody great job of it. These guys drip menace. And poison, of course.

They both really stand out in combat, too. The Cities of Sigmar half of the box are an intimidating wall of guns and armor that will make mincemeat of anything foolish enough to break cover. The Skaven, on the other hand, are astonishingly fast. Supernaturally so, in some cases; a few, like their Deathmaster leader, can warp out of trouble and into combat elsewhere where the deck isn't so stacked against them. This is a phenomenally fun ability that I used to my advantage during test matches, where I lured my foe into combat (he was stood all on his lonesome with what may as well have been an "attack me" sign above his head) before immediately teleporting elsewhere. In so doing I tied up some of my opponent's most powerful troops while tipping the odds in my favor on the other end of the board. It was wonderfully devious.

With that kind of fiendish gameplay to grapple with, I wanted to rerack and start again as soon as the battle was over - not something that happens often for me. As such, I'd highly recommend diving in now that the box set is back in stock. Sure, it's not necessarily the best fit for total beginners because the Skaven in particular are hard to construct. But I'd say that fiddliness is worth enduring even so, because the end result is so satisfying.

Again, just move quickly; I doubt stock will hang around for long.

See all Age of Sigmar deals at Amazon

For something else you can play between battles, why not try the best board games or the best card games?

Overwatch fans are lamenting that Fortnite is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the hero shooter better than Blizzard itself is.

Earlier this week, the Overwatch 10th Anniversary Event kicked off in-game, and very quickly, fans discovered that it kinda stinks. Most of the new cosmetics are the Decennium Skins, which are purple and white recolors for the original cast. But at the same time, the Fortnite x Overwatch collab also kicked off this week, which brought Tracer, Genji, Mercy, and D.VA to the game as skins, as well as making some changes to battle royale mode with Tracer's guns, Mercy's Staff and a number of POI's taking the form of iconic Overwatch locations.

Over on Reddit, a post laments that Fortnite's crossover does Overwatch more justice than the game's own devs, with responses saying "I'm actually more excited to play Fortnite's Overwatch mode than the actual Overwatch." Another adds, "Epic just made Blizz look absolutely pathetic."
Uh oh – it appears, in making some changes to Warlocks in Diablo 4, Blizzard's managed to break the class to a pretty drastic extent. A particular combination of equipment will make you practically unstoppable, by way of enabling you to one-shot much of what comes your way, even in a high-ranking dungeon.

There are four aspects to this intersection of pain. You have Command Fallen and Command Ae'grom, then the Paingorger's Gauntlets, Oikos-Hewer of Mutilation, and the Evisceration Fragment. As of the last patch, having these together lets you just run through many of the RPGs enemies with ease – particularly Elites, due to the Rampage skill.

See, the patch sorted a problem with the Mutilation on the Evisceration Fragment, but it's over-corrected and made the associated effects go haywire. Diablo-focused YouTuber wudijo demonstrates as much in a short video explaining the build and just showing off its power. At the core is his own custom Lunatic outline, which uses Fallen and Ae'grom, a popular way of playing as Warlock in Diablo 4.

Put this all together, and you'll get damage scaling to the point of just mutilating anything that steps in your way. This makes Level 150 of the Pit of Artificers, the peak of the whole gauntlet, a bit of a breeze by normal standards.

What's slightly troubling is that it's not hard to figure out this setup, as wudijo points out it was his normal build, plus the Mutilation and Evisceration fragments. Minor tweaks on their face that change the whole complexion of the game.

He reckons there'll be a hotfix for this soon, and I'd agree. It skews all the demon-slaying to a pretty drastic degree. If you want to get some kicks from it, boot up Diablo 4 as soon as possible.

Blizzard was working on Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred before the base RPG even launched, and that's why some of its biggest features were "deployed early."

By now, you've likely seen a million videos of the Steam Controller screaming classic movie-style as it drops from a height. It's exactly the kind of fun easter egg that makes Valve's gamepad so special, especially since it uses haptics rather than a speaker. However, rather than making it cry out as it plummets, you can instead use an app to make it chirp a bunch of MIDI tracks.

First highlighted by Beebreadtech on TikTok, you can effectively make the Steam Controller sing using an app. Creatively dubbed SteamHapticsSinger, the GitHub program is actually forked from code for Valve's first gamepad, but has since been revamped by developer CrazyCritic89.

The clip demos the Steam Controller singing tunes like "Still Alive" from Portal, which feels right on a Valve gamepad. The Wii Shop music also sounds pretty sensational coming out of the haptic motors, although it's worth noting that if you leave it belting its heart out on a desk, it might get carried away and rumble off your surface, potentially resulting in one of those aforementioned Wilhelm screams.

                            @beebreadtech

♬ original sound - beebreadtech

Of course, this isn't the first ever instance of motors making a chorus they're not designed to. In fact, there's a good chance you've already bear witnessed to The Floppotron at some point on the internet, a "computer hardware orchestra" that uses a whole lineup of old Hard Discs, Floppy Drives, and flatbed scanner motors to play whole tracks.

In theory, you could get a whole bunch of Steam Controllers and get it to play different "instruments" as part of an orchestra. That's going to be an expensive show given the gamepad's $99 / £89 price tag, though, so keep that in mind before planning any talent show entries. If you're just looking to mess around, all you have to do is install USBDK alongside the SteamHapticsSinger app, acquire some MIDI tracks, and then drag and drop them in.

It's worth noting that if you have a Steam Deck OLED, it should work with Valve's gaming handheld too. I unfortunately left my portable pal at home, so I can't make it sing for its supper right now. I will be trying it when I'm back at my desk, however, and if I manage to get a Steam Machine later this year, I'll be putting the pad on a stage for my amusement.

PC controllers at Amazon

Steam Deck accessories at Amazon

Got Valve's handheld?
Six weeks in, and The Boys season 5 has been met with its fair share of criticism. Just a few days out from the Prime Video show's final-ever episode and fans have been complaining about Kimiko's dialogue, the lack of big deaths and... well, the chapter's focus on Soldier Boy.

That combined with all the talk surrounding Aya Cash's deceased Supe Stormfront, an onscreen introduction to Vought Rising character Bombsight (Mason Dye), and mentions of Torpedo (Will Hochman) and Private Angel (Elizabeth Posey), who are also set to appear in the spin-off, viewers have been wondering whether The Boys final season is actually just one big ad for the upcoming '50s-set prequel series?

In a new interview on The Ringer's The Watch podcast, though, showrunner Eric Kripke insisted that their inclusion felt "organic" – and that it didn't come down to "craven commercialism".

Turns out, it all revolves around V1. "We had this notion of this McGuffin, and we knew Soldier Boy was gonna be a character this season and just like, well, why is he immortal?" Kripke said. "And why is Stormfront immortal? What is it about whatever they had, right? We didn't start it with like, 'We gotta get Bombsight in there, guys, we gotta set up our thing.'"

Kripke went on to explain that the writers' room for Vought Rising, which is overseen by showrunner Paul Grelon, was "down the hall" from where they were fleshing out the scripts for The Boys season 5. "We're hearing what's coming out of that room, we're, like, excited by it, you know?" he recalled. "We got to hear what he was doing with Bombsight and it was all very cool. So when the question comes up in our room of like, 'Who ultimately has the V1?' You know, is it just some rando old hero that you never will see again? Or should it be one of those characters? 'Cause those characters are so badass. That's how it kind of evolved. It came from a spot of, 'It's a full universe and we have these pieces, so if we're able to use them, why not?'"

The Boys is set to conclude on May 20.
Now that a few Overwatch characters have stepped into multi-brand-verse Fortnite, it's time for a decade-old myth around Tracer's butt to flop in with them.

Fortnite welcomed a handful of Overwatch heroes this week - Tracer, D.Va, Mercy, and Genji included - as well as some iconic series weapons, but one particular asset is getting all the attention online.

"NO SHOT THEY UN-NERFED TRACERS BUTT," one viral social media post says alongside a screenshot of Tracer's model in the evergreen battle royale game. "Finally, Fortnite with the courage to do what [Blizzard] wouldn't. Until original director Jeff Kaplan stepped in and replaced the pose, that is: "We want everyone to feel strong and heroic in our community," he said at the time.

Blizzard's updated pose rang truer to Tracer's personality, but also spawned myths that traveled far and wide, alleging the devs 'nerfed' the hero by making her butt smaller. The butt-troversy even followed Jeff Kaplan to his promotional run for The Legend of California, his new game, where he debunked the myth once and for all (or so we thought.)

"We actually didn't nerf Tracer's butt," Kaplan clarified a few weeks ago. "It stayed exactly the same. That was a good repose I just had."

Butt sickos who had spread a half-truth on the internet for a decade were living through a Mandela Effect, it seems - except this one is a little more resistant to dying, based on plenty of newly-viral posts about Tracer's butt-troversy.

"Super sad and disappointing" Overwatch 10th Anniversary Event leaves players reeling: "Blizzard did us dirty"

The Sega Neptune is the all-in-one Genesis and 32X retro console that never was. It was supposed to serve as a stopgap for players before investing in the Saturn and its wild new 3D capabilities, but it was inevitably cancelled. However, in an age where it's possible to recreate even the obscurest systems using FPGA tech, it should come as no surprise that it's finally getting a release, and it's almost ready for take-off.

A new video shows the "GF1 Neptune" running Knuckles' Chaotix for the Sega 32X via a Mega Everdrive cartridge, with the demo representing a development milestone (Cheers, Time Extension). The team behind the console, GameCare, confirms that the system is now "up and running" and the main Mega Drive (Genesis), Master System, and 32X are all now functional on the remake.

GameCare says it's been working tirelessly to "deliver the most incredible product possible," but also pays tribute to the Nuptune community. "We have many important people in the community to thank," says GamesCare. "Without their help, none of this would be possible, and we will express our gratitude in a very special way soon."

Originally, the Sega Neptune remake was supposed to land last year, but it was pushed to 2026 to allow for development time. It's worth bearing in mind that this is an FPGA system by a small, community-focused team. That is to say, availability and distribution probably won't be on par with FPGA systems like the Commodore 64 Ultimate or Analogue 3D, and even the latter 4K N64 is frequently out of stock.

We also don't have a price for the GF1 Neptune yet, but again, I'd brace for a pretty eye-watering figure. We're talking handmade hardware in smaller batches, meaning you should leave the MSRP expectations you'd normally tie to mass-produced systems at the door. GamesCare also isn't offering any pre-orders right now, so if you do see any pages taking reservations, they're likely a scam.

The Sega Mega Drive, or Genesis as many of you will call it across the pond, is one of my favorite consoles of all time. Sadly, my hardware collection stops at my beloved Mega CD add-on, as I've never been lucky enough to find a 32X for an affordable price. I like to think it's players like me who'll be eyeing up this Nepture remake, not least since it offers up all the perks of FPGA hardware replication while offering an experience that never saw light of day.

My only reservation right now is with the price. I'm not convinced I'll be able to afford the GF1 Neptune, but the good news is there are 32X MiSter cores out there you can use with DIY setups. You could even use the SuperStation One to run your ROMs if you've already got one of those, and while that's a cheaper solution, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't longing for something that looks and runs actual carts like the cancelled Neptune.

More retro consoles at Amazon

Retro controllers at Amazon

Looking to play Sega games on the go?
