Yuke's Company of America - the US branch of the Japanese developer behind the wrestling series WWE SmackDown! and Rumble Roses - today announced its first game, D1 Grand Prix. Due out in July, D1 will focus on the high-speed world of professional drift racing, a bold departure for a company usually associated with sweaty men and hot chicks tossing each other around a ring. When it hits, D1 will star 39 different American and Japanese race drivers, as well as more than 40 licensed cars from

Above: That's Romero in the center, before he made one of the worst marketing decisions in history

Game designer John Romero will always be remembered for his work on Wolfenstein 3D, Doom and Quake. During his time at id Software, he was part of the team that helped create and shape the first-person shooter genre. But that’s not what he’s most remembered for…

In one of its cleverer moves, Microsoft has published two demos on the Xbox Live Marketplace which require the Kinect controller. Great, so you can try out the games before you decide to plop down the money for Microsoft's motion-sensing peripheral! Oh, wait... something doesn't add up here, does it?

The demos, which are for Kinect-only games Dance Central and Joyride, were posted on the Xbox Live Marketplace earlier today. Of course, Kinect doesn't come out for another three months, but you can still download the demos and launch them... for no reason...

How to make the rather depressing Microsoft conference better? With Guile's theme music!

It may seem pointless to award honors to a bunch of unreleased games, but the tradition at least offers an easy-to-digest E3 hype gauge. Nintendo's 3DS won Best Hardware and Best of Show, and based on our time with it, the awards are deserved. But since we love to play devil's advocate, we'll point out that the Wii won Best of Show in 2006, and you know how much we love it now...

Activision may no longer have “those kind of feelings” for guitars and turntables, but new information from inside the company suggests that the publisher is eager to get in on the dancing craze with a new motion controlled music franchise entitled Dance Hero...

It's quite likely that Microsoft's Project Natal will be renamed “Kinect.” More news on the name change and upcoming titles for the upcoming motion-sensor add-on for the Xbox 360 are expected to arrive during Microsoft's press conference, which is taking place as we speak. Here's what we know so far...

As plans go, it probably sounded pretty watertight. Hire two gorgeous models. Put them on stage in front of the press. Get them to show off the controller-free awesomeness of Kinect. Retire to the nearest drinking establishment for beers and good times. What could possibly go wrong?

Today is the day that the music died for media conglomerate Viacom. The company recently announced plans to sell its Rock Band development studio Harmonix. Despite an overwhelmingly positive critical reception for the studio’s music games, the high cost of producing the Rock Band instrument peripheral controllers contributed to a $65 million loss last quarter…
