Journalists and developers expected to see the latest tricks of the Unreal Engine at Epic Games' private demo at the Game Developers Conference this week - but they didn't necessarily expect to see both Gears of War and Unreal Tournament 2007 running on next-gen development
Two of Unreal Tournament 2007's bigwigs took the stage at Midway's media event in late February to give the press a small but potent peek at the upcoming PS3 and PC shooter. Throughout the presentation, Mark Rein, vice president of developer Epic Games, stressed that they were showing “a lot of unfinished stuff, a lot of unpolished stuff." Honestly, you'd never know it.

Take a look at these fantastic screens for Unreal Tournament 2007, due to smash home on PC later this year - and sure to grace next-gen consoles sometime in the future, too.
Apart from the stupendous amount of detail, the most exciting feature of the latest Unreal Tourney has to be the chonking great vehicles you can now roar around the levels in, promoting the sort of gunner and driver teamplay that makes Battlefield 2 so much fun.

Just look at those screenshots. OK, there are only two of them but, let's face it, at first glance, Ultimate Spider-Man looks lush.
Yes, we're suckers for cel-shaded games but, even if you're not, Ultimate still sounds an attractive proposition. Players are given the opportunity to play as both Spider-Man and a super-villain across expanded, free-roaming environments, including the addition of Queens, New York.
We're also promised diverse gameplay and improved combat systems (there are two
