  • The official X-Com reboot isn't quite here, but UFO Online: Fight for Earth, a browser based take on the classic X-com concept may be the next best thing. All the tropes of the old game are there, including developing your squad, upgrading your base, going out on missions, turn-based combat, and of course, aliens…

  • Topware Interactive is offering a sneak peek of their upcoming PC strategy game UFO: Afterlight. The demo is exclusive to North America and can be downloaded at
  • Wednesday 23 August 2006 Massively multiplayer PC RPG workhorse Ultima Online (currently in its ninth year, so possibly older than the newest generation of gamers) is to be given a sweeping overhaul next year in the Kingdom Reborn expansion. Most obvious is a graphical upgrade: while UO won't be moving out of its old school, isometric 3D look, soft lighting and smoothed visuals will make it less eye-searingly retro. Developer EA also promises "many, many more suprises in store" for players,
  • Sept 26, 2007 Veteran MMORPG Ultima Online recently received a significant overhaul in update Kingdom Reborn, and EA is inviting former players to come and take in the new sights for free. The "Return to Brittania" campaign, as the initiative is named, forms part of a celebration of the game's tenth anniversary, and ex-OUers can play for free through to October 9. "Past subscribers in good standing will be able to play for free through October 9, 2007 by visiting
  • Warren Spector and his new dev house Junction Point might not be blabbing fully about its first, top secret project yet, but it's emerged that the studio has signed a deal with Vivendi. Reported in Game Developer magazine, the publisher is obviously happy to let Spector's creative juices flow and supports his plan for an experience that's very much story-driven. "You don't want to know how many projects I've been told to 'just go make a shooter.' I had one publisher tell me 'you're not
  • Here's a video recently dug up by Capcom Unity, originally used to promote the PSP's Ultimate Ghosts 'n' Goblins release in Japan. It's still in Japanese, but you'll figure it out thanks to the recently added subtitles. Whereas many trailers will focus on the most action-packed moments in a character's business, this clip goes another way. It turns out that in the fifteen years between Super Ghouls 'n' Ghosts and the reappearance of series hero Arthur the Brave Knight... not much happened. And if you think that's a boring time for players, just think how hard fictional characters have it out here in the dull-ass real world...

Remember a little game called Marvel vs Capcom 3? We thought it was pretty badass, and we really looked forward to all the DLC possibilities for the title. Sadly, after one modest costume pack there was nothing, aside from rumors that Capcom would do something similar to what happened to Resident Evil 5, Street Fighter IV, and Dead Rising 2 before it: Iterate the shit out of it with an updated retail game. Just in time for Comic-Con, Capcom made it official: Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 is coming with 12 new characters, and Hawkeye, Ghost Rider, Firebrand and Strider are confirmed for the new roster...

  • Looks like someone on Capcom's press site has made a huge mistake, as art has leaked revealing the 8 additional new characters scheduled for Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. These 8, plus the ones announced earlier this morning, bring the total to 12. Capcom has since locked down the leaked images, but check out the complete list after the jump. Phoenix Wright fans, make sure you're sitting down.

Here’s a quick timeline: Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 was announced early on July 20, and five minutes later the entire roster leaked. Capcom has more or less confirmed that list as real, but let’s all pretend it didn’t happen and get excited for today’s new character reveals: Marvel’s Doctor Strange and Resident Evil’s Nemesis! See their badass trailers inside...
